About Thailand

  • Our packages4 to 6 nights
  • Best timeNov to Feb
  • Visa for IndiansNo visa needed

Thailand is a tropical country in Southeast Asia, with a mainland and many islands. For Indian travellers it is an easy first trip abroad: flights from several major cities are short, English is widely used in tourist areas, and hotels, transport and attractions are well established. It works for couples, families, friends and groups.

A trip is made of a few distinct regions. Bangkok brings the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, markets, river districts and Thai food. Phuket and Krabi on the Andaman coast offer beaches, limestone cliffs and island excursions. Chiang Mai in the north adds temples, northern cuisine and mountain landscapes. Pattaya is a short beach break from Bangkok, Ayutthaya is a historical day trip, and Koh Samui is the Gulf of Thailand option.

Most travellers fly into Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok. November to February is generally the most comfortable time for Bangkok, the north and the Andaman coast, though the Gulf islands follow a different weather pattern. Choose from Bangkok Pattaya Classic 4N, Phuket Krabi Island Escape 5N, Thailand Family Fun 5N, Thailand Highlights 6N and Thailand Honeymoon 6N, or ask us to customise one. We keep trips to two bases where we can, because long transfers waste holiday time. Read our Thailand travel guide, places to visit in Thailand and Thailand trip cost to plan further.

Our verdict

November to February is generally the most comfortable time for Bangkok, northern Thailand and the Andaman coast, with highs of 31°C to 33°C and little rain. December to February is also peak season, with strong demand and higher prices. March to May turns hot, and May to October brings wetter weather. Koh Samui and the Gulf islands often have their drier period from January to August. See the full best time to visit Thailand guide.

Day by day

Sample 5-day Thailand itinerary

Based on our Bangkok Pattaya Classic 4N package. Your trip expert can stretch or shorten any day.

  1. Day1

    Arrival in Bangkok

Land at Suvarnabhumi Airport and meet your driver for the transfer to your Bangkok hotel. Check in and rest after the flight. Travellers often say the first day goes better when it stays light, so keep the evening for a short walk and an easy Thai dinner near the hotel.

    BreakfastNight in Bangkok
  2. Day2

Grand Palace, Wat Pho and the river

Start early with the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, and dress for temples with covered shoulders and knees. Move on to the Chao Phraya river area and Wat Arun. In the evening, visit a market or food district. Group these sights by neighbourhood, because Bangkok traffic makes long cross-city hops slow.

    BreakfastNight in Bangkok
  3. Day3

    Transfer to Pattaya

Check out after breakfast and travel to Pattaya by private vehicle, a short beach-break transfer from Bangkok. Check in and spend the afternoon at the beach or hotel pool. Pattaya works best as a relaxed add-on with nightlife and family attractions, so keep the first evening easy.

    BreakfastNight in Pattaya
  4. Day4

    Pattaya at leisure

Use the day for beach time, family attractions or the nearby islands, depending on the weather and your pace. Your planner can suggest options before you travel, and optional activities are booked at extra cost. Leave room to rest, since many travellers say they prefer a slower day over an overfilled one.

    BreakfastNight in Pattaya
  5. Day5

    Departure

Enjoy breakfast and check out. Your driver takes you back toward the airport for departure, and the road transfer is planned with extra time for traffic. If your flight is late, use the morning for a last walk or some shopping before you leave Pattaya.

Budget guide

How much does a Thailand trip cost?

Starting prices of our packages, per person on twin sharing, excl. GST and flights.

Several things move the price of a Thailand trip. Hotel location and room category matter most, followed by the mix of cities and islands. Domestic flights, ferries and speedboats add cost, and so do private transfers. Dates count too, because December to February, Christmas and New Year, and Songkran in April are the busiest times. Flights are not included in our packages. Read more in Thailand trip cost.

FAQs

Thailand tour package FAQs

Quick answers to what travellers ask before booking a Thailand trip. Ask your trip expert anything else.

Is Thailand visa-free for Indian citizens?

Indian ordinary-passport holders currently receive a 30-day tourism visa exemption, subject to Thailand's latest conditions and entry requirements. Carry a passport valid for six months, return travel evidence and accommodation details, and check the Digital Arrival Card requirements before you fly.

How many days are enough for Thailand?

Five to seven days suits Bangkok plus one beach region, such as Phuket or Krabi. Ten to fourteen days allows Bangkok, northern Thailand and one or two beach areas. Three days works only as a tight Bangkok highlights trip.

What is the best time to visit Thailand?

November to February is generally best for Bangkok, northern Thailand and the Andaman coast, with little rain. The Gulf islands, including Koh Samui, often have their drier period from January to August. Check the region you plan to visit, because the coasts differ.

Which is better for a first trip, Phuket or Krabi?

Phuket has broader hotel, nightlife and excursion choices. Krabi is generally better for limestone scenery and a quieter base. Some travellers say Ao Nang in Krabi is a relaxed base for island trips. You can combine both in five to six nights.

Is Thailand suitable for a family holiday?

Yes. Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai offer family hotels, manageable sightseeing and activities for different ages. Keep transfer chains short, choose hotels with pools, and avoid overloading the plan with ferries. Families often say fewer hotel changes make the trip easier.

What currency is used in Thailand?

Thailand uses the Thai baht (THB). The exchange rate against the rupee moves, so check the current rate before you travel. Carry some baht in small notes for stalls and local transport, which travellers often say they wished they had prepared.

Which airlines fly from India to Thailand?

Depending on the city and date, direct services may include IndiGo, Air India, Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Thai VietJet Air and Air India Express. Nonstop flights to Bangkok run from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Check the schedule for your travel date.

Do your Thailand packages include flights?

No. Our packages are land-only and cover the hotels, transfers and sightseeing agreed in your itinerary. Flights are booked separately, and our planners can suggest timings. Visa assistance is included, but travel insurance and personal expenses are extra.

Is Thailand expensive for Indian tourists?

Thailand can be moderate in cost. Local food and transport are affordable, while beachfront resorts, private transfers and peak-season flights raise the budget. Travelling outside Christmas and New Year, and choosing one beach region, helps control the total.

How far ahead should I book a Thailand package?

Book early for December to February and Christmas and New Year, when demand and prices are highest. Early booking also helps for flights and peak-season activities. In the wet months there is more flexibility. Ask for a written quote that lists every inclusion.
