At a glance
Egypt is a desert country in North Africa, with the Nile running through its heart. For Indian travellers it offers a rich range of ancient monuments in a trip of one to two weeks. English is widely used in tourism, so most visitors manage well with a licensed guide and prearranged transfers. Egypt works for first-time travellers abroad, couples, families and groups, although the heat and the sightseeing pace need careful planning.
Most trips are built around a few areas. Cairo and Giza hold the Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Luxor has Karnak, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings, and a Nile cruise links it with Aswan, where Philae Temple and a Nubian village are close by. Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh on the Red Sea add beaches and reef diving. Cairo is the usual entry point, and domestic flights connect it with Luxor and Aswan.
Our two draft packages show the most common shapes. Cairo Pyramids 3N is a short city trip for first-timers with limited time. Egypt Classic with Nile Cruise 7N combines Cairo, Luxor and Aswan with a Nile cruise. Tell us your dates and we can customise either one. Season guide
October to April is the best window for sightseeing. October, November, March and April balance comfortable temperatures with fewer crowds than winter. December to February is the coolest and busiest season, with higher hotel and cruise prices. June to August is very hot inland, so summer trips suit the Red Sea coast better. Plan around these months if you want the most comfortable weather. See the full best time to visit Egypt guide.
Day by day
Based on our Cairo Pyramids 3N package. Your trip expert can stretch or shorten any day.
Land at Cairo International Airport and meet your driver for the transfer to your hotel. Check in and rest after the flight. In the evening, take a short walk near the hotel and have an early night, because the Giza visit starts early the next morning. Carry your passport and printed e-Visa, and keep the first evening light.
Leave for the Giza plateau at opening time, when the air is cooler and the site is quieter. Your guide takes you past the Pyramids to the Sphinx and explains the site. Expect persistent sales requests around the plateau, and agree on a polite no in advance. Return to Cairo by early afternoon and rest through the hottest hours.
Spend the morning at the Grand Egyptian Museum or the Egyptian Museum, depending on your guide's plan. In the afternoon, walk through Islamic Cairo and visit the Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Dress modestly at mosques, such as Al-Azhar Mosque, and carry small Egyptian-pound notes. Bargain politely in the bazaar and agree on a price before you buy.
Enjoy breakfast and check out. Your driver takes you to Cairo International Airport for your flight home. Cairo traffic can be heavy, so the transfer takes longer than the map suggests. Keep your passport and boarding documents ready at the hotel. Ask your planner for the exact pickup time the day before, and arrive at the airport with ample time for check-in.
Budget guide
Starting prices of our packages, per person on twin sharing, excl. GST and flights.
Four things move the price of an Egypt trip. Hotel area and star category matter most. A Nile cruise adds a cabin category choice that changes the total. Length comes next, and each extra cruise night or Red Sea stay adds cost. Season counts too, since December to February is peak time. Check your quote for domestic flights, entry fees and guides, because these change the total. Read more in Egypt trip cost.

FAQs
Quick answers to what travellers ask before booking a Egypt trip. Ask your trip expert anything else.
Three nights covers Cairo and Giza only. Five to seven days covers Cairo, Luxor and part of the Nile, and ten to fourteen days allows Aswan, Abu Simbel and a Red Sea stay. Seven nights with a Nile cruise is a balanced first visit for most travellers.
October to April is the most comfortable season for sightseeing. October, November, March and April balance good temperatures with lower demand than the winter peak. December to February is busiest and often most expensive. June to August is very hot inland.
Yes, Indian ordinary-passport holders generally need an Egyptian tourist visa, usually obtained through the official e-Visa portal. Check the current fee and eligibility before you pay. Our packages include visa assistance, but the visa fee is separate.
No. Our Egypt packages are land-only, so international flights are booked separately. Our planners can suggest arrival and departure timings from your city. Delhi and Mumbai have nonstop flights to Cairo, and most other Indian cities connect through a Gulf or Istanbul hub.
For many travellers, yes. A Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan combines accommodation and sightseeing, so you unpack only once. Cabin quality varies widely, and sailing dates can change with river conditions. Some travellers feel temples are rushed on a cruise, so ask about the timetable first.
Most established tourist routes operate normally. Follow current government advisories, use licensed guides and reputable operators, and avoid demonstrations and restricted border areas. Dress modestly at religious sites, and keep valuables secure in busy markets and around the Pyramids.
Prices depend on hotel class, cruise category, season and trip length. Our packages are priced per person on twin sharing and quoted with a clear inclusions list. A short Cairo trip costs much less than a longer trip with a Nile cruise, so ask for a written quote before you pay.
Carry low-denomination Egyptian pound notes for tips and small purchases, and do not show large amounts of cash in markets. Small payments and tipping are a frequent surprise for first-time visitors. An Egyptian SIM or eSIM helps with maps and bookings on the go.
Yes, with planning. Short flights from India, major monuments and resort facilities suit families. Heat, long road transfers and early Abu Simbel departures need age-appropriate planning. October, November, February and March are the months most often recommended for families.
Yes. Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh offer beach resorts, snorkelling and diving. In a short trip, choose one coast rather than both, because travelling between them takes time. Ask your planner to add a Red Sea stay to any package.
