At a glance
Australia is a very large country, and its highlights are far apart. Sydney has the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and beaches, Melbourne offers laneway culture and museums, Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, and Uluru sits in the desert at the centre of the country. Distances are long, so the trip works best with two or three bases rather than many short stops. Travellers from India often enjoy the mix of city life, coastline and wildlife.
Our three draft packages are built on that idea. Australia Classic 9N covers Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns, with a Blue Mountains day, Melbourne's laneways and a Great Barrier Reef day cruise. Australia Family with Theme Parks 10N uses Sydney and the Gold Coast, with two full theme park days and beach time. Australia and Great Barrier Reef 12N gives Cairns six nights for the reef, the Daintree Rainforest and Kuranda.
Every package is land-only. Flights to Australia and the domestic flights between cities are booked separately, and our planners can suggest timings that fit the itinerary. Breakfast is included daily, ground transfers are by private vehicle, and visa assistance is included. Your quote lists every inclusion and exclusion before you pay.
If your plans differ, tell us your dates, your budget and the cities that matter most. We can build a custom itinerary, for example adding Uluru or Perth with extra nights and domestic flights. For planning, read the Australia travel guide and the visa guide for Indians. Travellers who prefer compact scenic road trips may also compare New Zealand tour packages.

Season guide
April to May and September to October are comfortable across most of the southeast, with mild days for city touring. May to October is the ideal window for the Great Barrier Reef and the drier north. December to February is hot, busy and the most expensive period, especially over Christmas and New Year. Book early for those months. For a month-by-month view, see the best time to visit Australia guide.
Day by day
Based on our Australia Classic 9N package. Your trip expert can stretch or shorten any day.
Land at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport and transfer to your hotel in the Sydney CBD by private vehicle. Check in and rest after the long journey from India. In the evening, take an easy walk along Circular Quay to see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Keep the first day light, because the route ahead has several bases and domestic flights.
Spend the day on Sydney Harbour. Walk around the Opera House and take in the Harbour Bridge views from Circular Quay. Take the Manly ferry for a short harbour crossing and a walk on Manly Beach. Return to the city in the late afternoon, when the light over the harbour is at its best.
Travel by private vehicle to the Blue Mountains, a few hours from Sydney depending on traffic. Walk one of the valley trails and enjoy the viewpoints over the forest. Keep the walking pace comfortable, and carry water and sun protection. Return to Sydney for the evening, where you stay in the same hotel.
Transfer to Sydney airport for your domestic flight to Melbourne, which is booked separately and timed with your planner. On arrival, transfer to your hotel in the Melbourne CBD. Spend the late afternoon exploring the central streets and a laneway café. Check in early and plan your rest before the evening.
Explore the laneway culture of central Melbourne, with its cafés, galleries and street art. Visit the Royal Exhibition Building, a UNESCO-listed heritage site, and one of the city's arts or museum districts. Choose a relaxed lunch and an early finish, since the city is walkable and spread across several areas.
Use the day at your own pace. Visit Southbank, the food districts or a museum you prefer, or simply rest in the hotel. Ask your planner for a quote if you want a Great Ocean Road tour, but plan it as an overnight route rather than a rushed day trip, because the viewpoints need time.
Transfer to Melbourne airport for your domestic flight to Cairns, which is booked separately. On arrival, transfer to your hotel on the Cairns Esplanade. Spend the afternoon by the water and plan the reef trip with your planner. Tropical north weather is warm, so take the rest of the day at an easy pace.
Board your reef day cruise from Cairns by private vehicle transfer. Snorkel or join a guided reef activity, depending on what the operator offers that day. Reef departures can be delayed or cancelled by sea conditions, so your planner keeps a buffer in the schedule. Return to Cairns in the late afternoon.
Choose the Daintree Rainforest for a guided walk through the rainforest, or Kuranda for a village and rainforest day. Both trips take a full day by private vehicle. Carry insect repellent and water, and wear shoes suitable for rainforest tracks. Return to Cairns in the evening.
Enjoy breakfast and check out of your hotel. Your driver takes you to Cairns airport for your departure, leaving enough time for check-in and security. If your flight is later in the day, use the morning for a last walk on the Esplanade or a short rest.
Budget guide

Four things move the cost of an Australia trip. Hotel area and star category matter most, because Sydney and Melbourne cost more than smaller cities. Domestic flights add a significant cost whenever you change cities, so fewer bases usually cost less. Peak summer and school holidays raise prices and reduce availability. Finally, reef cruises, scenic flights and theme park tickets are extra items to compare. Read more in Australia trip cost.

FAQs
Quick answers to what travellers ask before booking a Australia trip. Ask your trip expert anything else.
Seven days suits a focused trip, such as Sydney and Melbourne or Sydney and Cairns. Ten to fourteen days supports more regions, including the reef, the Daintree and Uluru. Australia's distances mean that every extra region needs a domestic flight, so plan fewer cities for a shorter trip.
Yes. Indian passport holders generally need an Australian visitor visa before they travel, commonly visitor visa subclass 600. The electronic travel authority and eVisitor options are generally not open to Indian passport holders, so check the official Department of Home Affairs notice before you apply.
April to May and September to October are broadly comfortable across the southeast. May to October is the ideal window for the Great Barrier Reef and northern Australia. December to February is summer peak season, with higher prices and more crowds.
Usually not. Most India to Australia itineraries connect through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha or Dubai. Schedules and airlines change by season, so check the options for your travel date. Our planners can compare routes from your city.
Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, the Gold Coast, Uluru and the Great Ocean Road are the strongest first-trip choices. Sydney and Melbourne work well together, and Cairns adds the reef and rainforest. Pick two or three bases and build the trip around them.
Yes. Accommodation, domestic flights, attractions and restaurant meals usually cost more than in India and in most Southeast Asian destinations. Travelling in shoulder seasons, using public transport and choosing apartments with kitchens help control costs.
The Australian dollar, abbreviated AUD, is the local currency. Exchange rates change daily, so compare the rate and any card fees before you convert money. Contactless bank cards are widely accepted in cities, transport and shops.
No. Our Australia packages are land-only. Flights to Australia and domestic flights between cities are booked separately. Breakfast, private transfers within the itinerary and visa assistance are included, and every quote lists what is covered.
Yes. Sydney, the Gold Coast and Melbourne have strong family infrastructure, with theme parks, zoos, aquariums and museums. Plan domestic flights carefully, include rest days and avoid long road sectors, because they are tiring for younger children.
It is generally safe, English-speaking and easy to navigate in cities, with strong organised-tour options. Take the usual precautions, follow beach and marine warnings, and prepare carefully for heat, wildlife and remote areas. Share your itinerary with someone at home.
