About this trip

Egypt Classic with Nile Cruise 7N is a seven-night trip through Egypt's main sights. It covers Cairo and Giza, Luxor's temples and tombs, a four-night Nile cruise and Aswan with Philae Temple. It suits first-time visitors, couples who want a relaxed Nile pace and friends who want a structured trip without planning every transfer.

Days one and two are in Cairo, with the Giza plateau at opening time and the Grand Egyptian Museum on the second afternoon. On day three you fly to Luxor and board the Nile cruise. Days four and five cover Luxor's West Bank and Valley of the Kings, then Karnak Temple, before the boat sails towards Edfu and Kom Ombo. On day six you reach Aswan for Philae Temple, and day seven is a relaxed Aswan day with a felucca sail.

Daily breakfast, dinner on the cruise, private transfers, guided sightseeing and visa assistance are included. Flights to and from Egypt, the Egypt e-Visa fee, travel insurance, entry fees not listed in the itinerary and personal expenses are extra. Before you book, read the Egypt trip cost guide and how to reach Egypt. For a shorter trip, see our Egypt tour packages.

Day-by-day itinerary

Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

Land at Cairo International Airport and transfer to your hotel by private vehicle. Check in and rest after the journey. Keep the first evening light, with a short walk and an early dinner, because the next day starts at the Giza plateau. Carry your passport, printed e-Visa and small Egyptian-pound notes.

    BreakfastNight in Cairo
  2. Day 2: Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum

Visit the Giza plateau at opening time, when the Pyramids and the Sphinx are quieter and cooler. Return to the hotel to rest through the heat, then visit the Grand Egyptian Museum in the late afternoon. Expect persistent sales requests near the plateau, and agree on a polite no in advance. Keep the evening light before your flight south the next day.

    BreakfastNight in Cairo
  3. Day 3: Fly to Luxor and board the Nile cruise

Take the domestic flight from Cairo to Luxor, then transfer to your Nile cruise. Settle into your cabin and enjoy lunch on board. In the late afternoon, visit Luxor Temple with your guide. Return to the boat for dinner and an early night, because the monuments are best seen with rest between visits.

    Night in Nile cruise
  4. Day 4: Luxor West Bank and the Valley of the Kings

Cross to the West Bank with your licensed guide for the Valley of the Kings and the tombs. Plan the visit for the morning, because the afternoon heat can be strong and the crossing wastes time at midday. Return to the boat for lunch, then rest or relax on the deck. Dinner is served on board.

    Night in Nile cruise
  5. Day 5: Karnak Temple, then sail towards Edfu and Kom Ombo

Visit Karnak Temple on the East Bank in the morning, with your guide, then cast off for a day of sailing. Stop at the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo as the itinerary allows. Schedules can change with river conditions, so keep a loose plan for the afternoon. Enjoy dinner on board and a quiet evening on the deck.

    Night in Nile cruise
  6. Day 6: Philae Temple and Aswan

The cruise reaches Aswan on the morning of day six. Visit Philae Temple, which sits on an island in the Nile, and spend time in the Aswan Nubian village with your guide. Aswan has a slower Nile setting than Luxor, which suits a relaxed afternoon. Dinner is on board, and the boat stays moored overnight.

    Night in Nile cruise
  7. Day 7: Aswan at leisure and a sunset felucca sail

Disembark after breakfast and transfer to your Aswan hotel. Use the late morning to rest or to visit the local bazaar. In the evening, take a sunset felucca sail on the Nile, a traditional wooden sailing boat. Abu Simbel is not part of this package, because its road departure is very early and needs separate planning.

    BreakfastNight in Aswan
  8. Day 8: Departure from Aswan via Cairo

Enjoy breakfast and check out. Your transfer takes you to Aswan airport for the domestic flight back to Cairo, where you connect to your international flight. Allow time for check-in and keep a buffer, because connections can be tight. Your planner confirms the final flight times before departure.

FAQs

Egypt Classic with Nile Cruise 7N: FAQs

What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.

Is seven nights enough for Egypt with a Nile cruise?

Seven nights covers Cairo, Luxor, a four-night Nile cruise towards Aswan and a final night in Aswan. It is a balanced first trip that matches the usual five to seven day route. Abu Simbel is not in this package, so ask your planner about it separately, because its departure is very early.

What does the Nile cruise include?

Four nights in a cruise cabin on twin sharing, with breakfast and dinner on board, and sightseeing stops at Luxor, Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan as per the itinerary. Cabin quality varies, and sailing dates can change with river conditions, so we confirm the vessel category at quote stage.

Does the package include flights?

No. International flights to and from Egypt are booked separately. The package includes the domestic flight from Cairo to Luxor and the domestic flight from Aswan back to Cairo, as per the itinerary. Domestic schedules can change, so keep a buffer before your international flight.

Are Luxor and Aswan visits guided?

Yes, with a licensed guide for the sightseeing in the itinerary. Travellers often say Luxor is easier with a guide, because the monuments are spread across both banks of the Nile. Entry fees for monuments and museums not listed in the itinerary are extra, so check your quote.

Which months suit this trip?

October, November, March and April balance comfortable temperatures with fewer crowds than the winter peak. December to February is pleasant but busiest and often most expensive. June to August is very hot inland, so this itinerary needs early starts and air-conditioned transport.

Can I add the Red Sea to this trip?

Yes, a Red Sea stay in Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh can be added. Combining both coasts in a short itinerary is inefficient, so choose one. Ask your planner for the extra nights and transfer times before you confirm. Your planner can confirm the exact timings before you commit.
