Thailand travel guide
Thailand can be moderate in cost. Local food and transport are affordable, while beachfront resorts, private transfers, island speedboats and peak-season dates raise the budget. Hotel category, trip length, city mix and travel month move the total most. Our packages are land-only, so flights are extra. Ask for a written quote that lists every inclusion.

Thailand sits in the middle of the cost range for Indian travellers. Everyday spending on food and local transport is gentle, but the total rises quickly once you add beachfront rooms, private transfers, domestic flights and island boats. This guide explains what drives the cost of a Thailand trip, how trip length and season change it, where you can save and what to check in a quote. It deliberately gives no package prices, because exact rates depend on dates, hotels and exchange rates. Our planners provide written quotes for your exact plan.
Longer trips cost more, but the extra nights are cheaper per night than the first ones, because flights are a fixed cost. A three-day trip is tight and covers Bangkok only. Five days suits Bangkok plus one beach base, and seven days is an ideal length for Bangkok, Ayutthaya and a beach region. Ten to fourteen days allows northern Thailand and a second coast. Each extra base adds transfers, so keep the number of bases low to keep the cost low.
Thailand offers a wide spread. Budget stays are typically three-star hotels in areas such as Bangkok Riverside, Sukhumvit, Patong, Karon and Ao Nang. Standard stays are four-star hotels in areas such as Pratunam, Sukhumvit, Patong, Kata and Ao Nang. Premium stays are five-star hotels in areas such as Riverside Bangkok, Kamala and Klong Muang. Luxury stays include five-star resorts and private pool villas on islands such as Yao Noi and Koh Samui. Breakfast is the usual meal basis. Our packages use comfort-category hotels on twin sharing.
December to February, and especially Christmas and New Year, command the strongest demand and the highest prices. Songkran in April also raises domestic travel and hotel pressure. May to October is cheaper, and September has lowest-season pricing in many areas, though showers increase and some boat services reduce. Choosing the coast by month matters, because Gulf islands can be drier when the Andaman coast is wet. See the best time to visit Thailand.
Local food and transport are affordable. In Bangkok, the BTS and MRT are cheap and usually more practical than taxis in heavy traffic. Our research gives typical urban fares of THB 15 to 60 for rail, THB 40 to 150 for short taxi or ride-hailing trips and THB 600 to 1,500 for common island ferry transfers, depending on route and operator. The currency is the Thai baht, and the exchange rate against the rupee moves, so check it before you travel. Travellers also warn that Indian food in Thailand can be unexpectedly expensive and mediocre, so local restaurants and food courts help the budget.
Couples can reduce the per-person cost by sharing, and early booking helps with flights and peak-season activities.
Typical upgrades include private airport transfers, better-located beachfront rooms, sunset or luxury speedboats, ethical elephant experiences, cooking classes, spa treatments and flexible ferry or excursion cancellation cover. Each adds to the total, so decide which matter most. Many travellers say they would rather add slower hotel time than another attraction.
Ask for a written quote that lists hotel names or categories, room type, meal plan, transfers, activities, entry fees, domestic flights, boat components and what is excluded. Check whether domestic flights and ferries are included, because our packages do not include them unless the quote says so. Check flight times, cancellation terms for boat trips and the exact dates. See the Thailand visa guide for Indians for entry rules.

FAQs
Short answers to what travellers ask about Thailand.
Thailand can be moderate in cost. Local food and transport are affordable, while beachfront resorts, private transfers and peak-season flights raise the budget. Travelling outside Christmas and New Year and choosing one beach region helps control the total.
Hotel location and room category, the mix of cities and islands, domestic flights and ferries, private transfers, speedboats and travel dates matter most. Peak dates around Christmas, New Year and Songkran raise prices, while the wet months lower them.
No. Our packages are land-only, so international flights are booked separately. Domestic flights, ferries and boat transfers are not included unless your written quote lists them. Visa assistance is included, but travel insurance and personal expenses are extra.
Use local restaurants, avoid Christmas and New Year, choose one beach region, use rail or shared transfers, and book flights and hotels early. Couples can share rooms, transfers and data plans to cut the per-person cost.
Prices are generally lower from May to October, and September has the lowest-season pricing in many areas. The trade-off is heavier showers and reduced boat services, so keep the plan flexible and ask for flexible boat components.
Thailand uses the Thai baht (THB), and the exchange rate against the rupee moves, so check it before you travel. Carry some baht in small notes for stalls and local transport, as travellers often wish they had.
Travellers report that Indian food in Thailand can be mediocre and unexpectedly expensive, so do not assume it matches food at home. Local restaurants and food courts are usually better value, and they let you try Thai dishes.
Common upgrades include private airport transfers, better-located beachfront rooms, sunset or luxury speedboats, ethical elephant experiences, cooking classes, spa treatments and flexible cancellation cover. Ask your planner to price each one separately so you can choose.
