About Turkey

  • Our packages6 to 7 nights

Turkey is a transcontinental country that spans Europe and Asia. For Indian travellers it offers many experiences in one trip: Byzantine and Ottoman monuments in Istanbul, the cave landscapes of Cappadocia, Greco-Roman ruins at Ephesus and Pamukkale, and beaches on the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts. English is widely understood in major tourist areas, but Turkish is the most useful language everywhere else.

Most trips start in Istanbul, which is the main international gateway through Istanbul Airport (IST). Cappadocia is usually reached by a domestic flight, and the coast is a further short flight or transfer. Our ready-made packages show how the country can be divided: the Istanbul Cappadocia Honeymoon 6N for couples, the Turkey Highlights 7N for a first visit that adds Ephesus and Pamukkale, and the Turkey Family 7N with a beach stop in Antalya.

Six to thirteen nights is the ideal range for most travellers. Seven nights covers Istanbul, Cappadocia and one more region, and a longer trip allows a slower pace. Travellers who want a second Mediterranean contrast can also look at Greece tour packages. Our verdict

April to May and September to October generally offer the most comfortable mix of weather, sightseeing and manageable crowds. Average daytime highs are about 17°C in April, 22°C in May, 27°C in September and 21°C in October. July and August are hot, with highs near 30°C, and the coasts are busy. Winter is cold and wet, and fog or wind can cancel balloon flights in Cappadocia. See the best time to visit Turkey guide for month-by-month detail.

Day by day

Sample 7-day Turkey itinerary

Based on our Istanbul Cappadocia Honeymoon 6N package. Your trip expert can stretch or shorten any day.

  1. Day1

    Arrival in Istanbul

Land at Istanbul Airport and meet your driver for the private transfer to your hotel. Check in, rest after the journey and keep the evening easy. If you feel fresh, take a short walk around Sultanahmet to get your bearings. The next two days cover the main sights, so an early night helps.

    Night in Istanbul
  2. Day2

Sultanahmet: Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapı

Spend the day in the old city, where Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace, the Hippodrome and the Basilica Cistern sit close together. Start early to avoid the crowds and heat. Finish with time in the Grand Bazaar. Do not try to fit in more, because the sights here deserve slow visits.

    BreakfastNight in Istanbul
  3. Day3

    Bosphorus cruise, Galata and Karaköy

Take a Bosphorus cruise in the morning, then cross to Galata and Karaköy for views, cafés and narrow streets. Add Dolmabahçe Palace if you prefer more history. Keep both shores of the Bosphorus from filling the same day, because traffic and ferry gaps use up time. Have a relaxed dinner in the evening.

    BreakfastNight in Istanbul
  4. Day4

    Fly to Cappadocia

Transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Cappadocia. Your driver meets you on arrival and takes you to your hotel, usually in Göreme. Settle in and spend the afternoon at leisure. If you plan a balloon flight, confirm the booking now. Avoid a long outing today after the travel.

    BreakfastNight in Cappadocia
  5. Day5

Cappadocia valleys and an underground city

Join a full-day tour of Cappadocia with valley viewpoints, cave settlements and fairy chimneys. The tour includes an underground city, one of the region's most distinctive sights. Travellers say this kind of combined route covers more ground than separate short trips. Return to the hotel for a quiet evening together.

    BreakfastNight in Cappadocia
  6. Day6

Spare morning and a flexible day

Use this day for the optional balloon flight at sunrise, if you have booked one. Wind or fog can cancel flights, so this spare morning gives you a second chance. After that, rest, walk in a valley or enjoy a Turkish bath. Do not plan a long transfer straight after the flight.

    BreakfastNight in Cappadocia
  7. Day7

    Departure from Cappadocia

Have breakfast and check out. Your driver takes you to the Cappadocia-area airport for your flight onward to Istanbul and home. Allow plenty of time for your connection, and keep your documents handy. If your flight is later, enjoy a last slow morning at the hotel before leaving.

Budget guide

How much does a Turkey trip cost?

Starting prices of our packages, per person on twin sharing, excl. GST and flights.

Four things move the cost of a Turkey trip most: the hotel location and category, the number of domestic flights and private transfers, the season, and optional extras such as a balloon flight. Our packages are land-only, so international airfare is booked separately and changes the total. Read Turkey trip cost for what each factor means in practice.

FAQs

Turkey tour package FAQs

Quick answers to what travellers ask before booking a Turkey trip. Ask your trip expert anything else.

Do Indian citizens need a visa for Turkey?

Yes. Indian ordinary, special and service passport holders need a visa. Some travellers can use a single-entry e-Visa, while others need a sticker visa through the Turkish consular process. Check your eligibility before you book flights or hotels.

How many days do I need for Turkey?

Seven nights covers Istanbul, Cappadocia and one more region. Ten to fourteen nights allows Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Ephesus and a coast at a slower pace. Five nights works only for Istanbul and Cappadocia, with no time for the western sites.

Are flights included in your Turkey packages?

No. Our Turkey packages are land-only. International flights and domestic flights between cities are arranged separately, and our planner can quote them with your itinerary. Visa assistance is included.

Is the Cappadocia balloon flight included?

Usually not. It is treated as an optional extra. Balloon flights depend on the weather, so we suggest keeping a spare morning in Cappadocia and booking the flight early in peak months.

What is the best time to visit Turkey?

April to May and September to October are generally the most comfortable, with mild weather and lighter crowds than mid-summer. June to August is hot and busy on the coast. Winter is cold, wet and quieter, and balloon flights are more often cancelled by fog.

Is Turkey safe for Indian tourists?

The main tourist areas are widely visited. Check official travel advisories before you leave, use registered taxis or ride-hailing apps, and keep valuables close in crowds. Avoid the area within 10 km of the Syria border.

Which places should a first-time visitor see?

Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale and Ephesus are the core choices for a first trip. Add Antalya or the Aegean coast if you want beach time. Our packages combine these places into two to four bases.

Is Turkey suitable for honeymoons and family holidays?

Yes. Honeymooners often combine Istanbul, Cappadocia and a coast, with a cave-suite stay and a Bosphorus evening. Families do better with two- or three-night bases, a seaside stop and heat breaks in the afternoon.

What currency is used in Turkey?

The Turkish lira is the local currency. Cards are common in cities and hotels, but cash helps for small purchases, local transport and smaller shops. Exchange rates change, so compare before you travel.

How do I get a price for a Turkey package?

Ask for a written quote with every inclusion listed. Prices depend on hotel category, season, the number of domestic flights and optional extras. Contact us for exact pricing for your dates and departure city.
