About this trip

Turkey Family 7N spreads three bases across eight days: three nights in Istanbul, two in Cappadocia and two in Antalya. It suits families who want history, an unusual landscape and beach time, without changing hotels every night. The plan avoids a dense multi-city programme, which is a common reason family trips feel tiring.

Istanbul covers Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace and a Bosphorus cruise. In Cappadocia, a full-day tour links valleys, cave settlements and an underground city. Antalya then gives beach time and a walk through Kaleiçi. Heat breaks and slower afternoons are built in, because Turkish summers can be hot and children tire quickly.

Private transfers, daily breakfast, a Bosphorus cruise, the Cappadocia tour and visa assistance are included. International and domestic flights, the Turkey visa fee, the balloon flight, other meals and insurance are extra. Read the things to do in Turkey guide, or see all Turkey tour packages.

  • Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and a Bosphorus cruise in Istanbul
  • Cappadocia's fairy chimneys, cave settlements and an underground city
  • Mediterranean beach time and the old quarter of Kaleiçi in Antalya
  • Three bases with two- or three-night stays, so children are not always packing
  • Heat breaks and a lighter pace built into the plan

Day-by-day itinerary

Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Istanbul

Land at Istanbul Airport and meet your driver for the private transfer to your hotel. Check in and let the children rest after the flight. Keep the evening simple, with an early dinner near the hotel. The next two days cover the main sights at a gentle pace, so a good night's sleep matters.

    Night in Istanbul
  2. Day 2: Sultanahmet and the old city

Visit Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace, the Hippodrome and the Basilica Cistern, which sit close together. Start early and plan short breaks, because queues and heat tire children. Do not try to see every site. Choose the ones your family will enjoy most and leave time for a long lunch.

    BreakfastNight in Istanbul
  3. Day 3: Bosphorus cruise and neighbourhoods

Take a Bosphorus cruise in the morning, a good way to see Istanbul without walking much. Spend the afternoon in Galata and Karaköy at an easy pace, or visit Dolmabahçe Palace. Avoid planning both shores of the Bosphorus in one day, because traffic and ferry gaps use up time and energy.

    BreakfastNight in Istanbul
  4. Day 4: Fly to Cappadocia

Transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Cappadocia. Your driver meets you and takes you to your hotel, usually in Göreme. Spend the afternoon at leisure, letting children enjoy the cave rooms and fairy chimney views. Confirm child policies first if you want to add a balloon flight.

    BreakfastNight in Cappadocia
  5. Day 5: Cappadocia valleys and underground city

Take a full-day tour of valley viewpoints, cave settlements and an underground city. Children often enjoy exploring the cave dwellings and tunnels. Bring water, hats and sun protection, and allow breaks in the shade. The tour is a single combined route, so the day is easier than several short trips.

    BreakfastNight in Cappadocia
  6. Day 6: Fly to Antalya

Transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Antalya. Your driver takes you to your hotel. Spend the afternoon at leisure, with beach time or a pool break if your hotel has one. Antalya is a practical base for the Mediterranean, so use this day to unwind after two busy cities.

    BreakfastNight in Antalya
  7. Day 7: Antalya beach and Kaleiçi

Enjoy beach time in the morning, then rest in the hottest hours. In the late afternoon, walk through Kaleiçi, the old quarter, and look at the harbour. Keep beach time apart from archaeological sightseeing, because summer heat and distances make combined days tiring. Your planner can swap in a waterfall visit instead.

    BreakfastNight in Antalya
  8. Day 8: Departure from Antalya

Have breakfast and check out. Your driver takes you to Antalya airport for your flight onward to Istanbul and home. Allow enough time for your connection and check the baggage rules, particularly if you booked separate tickets. If your flight is later, use the morning for a last swim or a quiet walk.

FAQs

Turkey Family 7N: FAQs

What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.

Is Turkey good for a family holiday?

Yes. Turkey offers varied attractions, family-friendly hotels, domestic flights and engaging history, food and landscapes. Families do better with two- or three-night bases, heat breaks and a lighter pace, which is how this plan is built. Avoid overly dense multi-city programmes.

What does the Turkey Family package include?

Seven nights in comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast, private airport transfers, sightseeing by private vehicle as listed, a Bosphorus cruise, a Cappadocia tour, Antalya beach time and visa assistance. Flights, the visa fee, balloon ride, other meals and insurance are not included.

When is the best time to travel with children?

April, May, June, September and October are generally the most comfortable for families. July and August are hot and busy, especially on the coast. Check the [best time to visit Turkey](/turkey-travel-guide/best-time-to-visit/) guide for weather month by month.

Can children join the Cappadocia balloon flight?

Possibly, but check each operator's child policy before booking, because rules differ. The balloon flight is an optional extra and not included. Weather can cancel flights, so keep a spare morning. Your planner can confirm policies and add the flight to your quote.

Is the pace too fast for young children?

The plan uses three bases and two domestic flights over eight days. Stays are two or three nights, with afternoon breaks built in. If your children are very young, ask your planner to drop one activity per day or remove the Antalya leg.

Are flights included in this package?

No. Our packages are land-only, so international flights and the domestic flights between cities are booked separately unless your quote lists them. Nonstop flights run from Delhi and Mumbai, taking about seven to seven and a half hours. Other cities usually have one stop, with total journey times of about nine and a half to eleven hours.
