Turkey requires Indian passport holders to obtain a visa before they arrive, whatever the passport type. Whether you can use the online e-Visa or must apply for a sticker visa depends on your documents and your trip. This page explains the rules as we understand them and what to check before you book. Rules can change, so confirm the latest conditions on the official websites before you pay for flights or hotels.
Do Indians need a visa for Turkey?
Yes. Indian ordinary, special and service passport holders need a visa to enter Türkiye. Your visa type depends on whether you meet the e-Visa conditions. Travellers who do not meet them need a sticker visa, which is applied for through the Turkish consular process. Check your status before you book non-refundable flights.
Who can get a Turkey e-Visa?
A single-entry tourist e-Visa is available to eligible Indian applicants who hold a valid visa or residence permit from one of these places:
- Schengen countries
- the United States
- the United Kingdom
- Ireland
The qualifying document must be valid. The applicant must also meet Türkiye's other conditions, which are set out on the official e-Visa website. Holding a qualifying document does not guarantee approval, so check each condition carefully.
When is a sticker visa needed?
If you do not meet the e-Visa criteria, you need a sticker visa. This is applied for through the Turkish consular process, which means working with the Turkish consular or visa channel that serves your area. Allow time for this process, because it is separate from the online e-Visa route. Our planners can explain which route fits your documents before you commit to dates.
What passport rules apply?
Your passport should be valid for at least 60 days beyond the date you plan to leave Türkiye. Check the expiry date against your return flight, not only against the date you arrive. A passport with too little validity can be refused at check-in or at the border, even when the visa itself is in order.
Common mistakes to avoid
Travellers often assume they qualify for the e-Visa without holding the required supporting visa or residence permit. Others book flights before checking their visa type, then find the process takes longer than expected. Read the official conditions in full, and confirm that the document you hold is still valid on your travel dates.
Fees and processing times
This page does not list the visa fee or the processing time, because we have not confirmed them for this guide. Fees and processing times can change, and they can depend on the visa type and how you apply. Confirm the current fee and timing on the official Turkish e-Visa website, or with the Turkish consulate that serves you.
What do our packages include?
Our Turkey packages include visa assistance. They do not include the Turkey visa fee, which is paid separately. The final decision on eligibility rests with Turkish authorities, so check your own eligibility before you travel.
