7-Day Bali Itinerary

Quick answer

A 7-day Bali itinerary covers Seminyak, Ubud culture and nature, a Nusa Penida excursion, a calm stay in Sanur or Nusa Dua, Uluwatu and Jimbaran, and a leisure day before departure. Seven days is the ideal length for a first trip, because it adds an island day and one volcano, rafting or wellness experience.

Facts checked 2 Nov 2026

Pale limestone cliffs at Uluwatu drop to blue ocean swells under a clear dry-season sky, with scrub in the foreground.

Day-by-day itinerary

Based on a 6-night package

  1. Day1

    Arrival and Seminyak sunset

Arrive at Denpasar airport and meet your driver for the transfer to Seminyak. Check in to your hotel and rest after the journey. Later, walk to the beach for sunset. Seminyak has many restaurants, including Indian options, so dinner is easy to find. Keep the evening free, as the next day begins with a road transfer to Ubud.

    SeminyakBreakfastNight in Seminyak
  2. Day2

Drive to Ubud and culture day

After breakfast, drive inland to Ubud. Traffic can be slow, so you leave early. Spend the day on Balinese arts, temple ceremonies and rice terraces. Your driver takes you between stops at an easy pace. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Keep the evening free to walk around and have dinner.

    UbudBreakfastNight in Ubud
  3. Day3

    Mount Batur sunrise hike

Wake before dawn for the Mount Batur hike. The climb is steep and starts in the dark. At the top, you look over Lake Batur and the volcanic landscape as the sun rises. Cloud can hide the view, so the sunrise is never guaranteed. Return to Ubud for breakfast and rest. Spend the afternoon at leisure.

    Mount Batur, UbudBreakfastNight in Ubud
  4. Day4

    Move to calm Sanur

Check out of your Ubud hotel and drive to Sanur. The transfer is shorter than the airport run. Sanur has a calmer coastline than the busier southern beaches. Spend the afternoon by the sea and rest. Go to bed early, because boats to Nusa Penida leave in the morning and early departures give calmer seas.

    SanurBreakfastNight in Sanur
  5. Day5

    Nusa Penida island day

Take an early boat from Sanur to Nusa Penida. Spend the day at the island's cliffs and offshore viewpoints. Roads and paths are demanding, so you cover a few stops rather than the whole island. Return by boat to Sanur in the afternoon. Return boats can run late, so the plan keeps a time buffer.

    Nusa Penida, SanurBreakfastNight in Sanur
  6. Day6

    Uluwatu cliffs and Kecak

Check out of Sanur and drive south to Nusa Dua to leave your bags at the hotel. In the afternoon, continue to Uluwatu to see its limestone cliffs. Stay for the Kecak performance at the temple at sunset. Return to Nusa Dua for the night. Pairing both areas on one day avoids extra cross-island trips.

Nusa Dua, UluwatuBreakfastNight in Nusa Dua
  7. Day7

    Leisure and departure

After breakfast, relax on the calm Nusa Dua beach until check-out. Your driver then takes you to Denpasar airport in time for your flight. Allow generous time for traffic on the way. The trip ends at the airport.

    Nusa DuaBreakfastNight in Nusa Dua

Seven days is the ideal length for a first trip to Bali. It gives you time for Ubud, an island excursion and the southern cliffs without crossing the island every day. Traffic is heavy, and Google Maps times are often too short, so this plan groups places by region and limits the number of hotel changes. Travellers often say they tried to cover too many areas, so we keep the plan relaxed and leave room for rest.

The plan at a glance

  • Day 1: arrival and Seminyak.
  • Day 2: Ubud transfer and cultural sightseeing.
  • Day 3: Ubud nature or wellness.
  • Day 4: Nusa Penida excursion.
  • Day 5: Sanur or Nusa Dua.
  • Day 6: Uluwatu and Jimbaran.
  • Day 7: leisure and departure.

Day 1: arrival and Seminyak

Land at Denpasar's Ngurah Rai Airport and transfer to Seminyak. Seminyak has design-led resorts, restaurants and beach clubs, and it is a practical first base. Keep the day light, enjoy a sunset on the beach and eat nearby. Book beach clubs and dinners ahead in peak months.

Day 2: Ubud transfer and cultural sightseeing

Drive to Ubud with a private driver and allow extra time for traffic. Visit the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and Tirta Empul, the holy spring temple at Manukaya, and consider a Balinese dance performance in the evening. Ubud centre is crowded and walkable only in parts, so many travellers stay outside the core and allow extra transfer time.

Day 3: Ubud nature or wellness

Spend this day on nature or rest. The Tegallalang Rice Terraces are north of Ubud, and the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces are a UNESCO-listed landscape with hiking and rice-field scenery. For a volcano experience, take the Mount Batur sunrise hike, which starts before dawn and may be clouded over. For wellness, book a spa treatment, yoga class or cooking class. Rafting is another active choice.

Day 4: Nusa Penida excursion

Travel to Sanur or use a pre-booked fast boat to reach Nusa Penida. Choose an early departure for more reliable sea conditions, and keep buffer time because return boats can be delayed. Roads and access paths are demanding, and trying to see the west and east coasts in one day often means more transit than sightseeing, so choose one coast. Cliffs, offshore viewpoints and snorkelling are the main draws. Travellers report that classic viewpoints such as Kelingking Beach can be crowded.

Day 5: Sanur or Nusa Dua

Use this day to recover. Sanur has a calmer coastal setting, and Nusa Dua has calm, maintained beaches and resort infrastructure, which suit families and travellers who want an easy day. Swim, take a spa session or enjoy a relaxed meal. Because Nusa Dua sits apart from central Bali attractions, pairing it with Uluwatu is more efficient than daily cross-island trips.

Day 6: Uluwatu and Jimbaran

Drive to Uluwatu for the clifftop sea temple and the sunset Kecak performance. Book tickets early and allow substantial road time. Add a beach such as Padang Padang or Melasti, and finish with dinner on Jimbaran Beach. Expect a late return. Keep the morning free.

Day 7: leisure and departure

Use the morning for a final beach walk, shopping or a spa visit, depending on your flight time. Allow generous time for the airport transfer. Check your return ticket and passport, and confirm any hotel check-out and luggage storage with your hotel.

Where should you stay on this itinerary?

Three or four bases work: Seminyak, Ubud, a Sanur or Nusa Dua coast stay, and optionally a southern base for the end. Fewer bases mean less packing and less road time. Couples sometimes base in Seminyak and visit Ubud and Nusa Penida from there, while families often prefer calm Sanur or Nusa Dua. Our Bali and Nusa Penida 6N and Bali Gili Islands 7N packages use this multi-base shape.

What to skip in seven days

Skip trying to visit every beach town. Daily returns to the south and an overloaded schedule waste your time, and the quieter eastern and northern areas such as Sidemen, Munduk, Amed and Lovina fit better in a ten-day trip. See the 5-day itinerary if you have less time.

When should you take this itinerary?

April to October is the drier season, and May, June and September balance weather and crowds. July and August are the driest and busiest. In the wet season, keep the Nusa Penida day flexible. See best time to visit Bali and how to reach Bali. If you want a second destination, our Thailand tour packages offer a different style of island trip.

FAQs

7-Day Bali Itinerary: FAQs

Short answers to what travellers ask about Bali.

Is 7 days enough for Bali?

Yes. Seven days is the ideal length for a first trip. It covers Seminyak, Ubud, a Nusa Penida excursion, a calm coast stay and Uluwatu without rushing. Ten to fourteen days suit travellers who want quieter eastern and northern areas.

What should I see in 7 days in Bali?

Ubud, Seminyak or Canggu, Uluwatu and Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan, plus one volcano, rafting or wellness experience. Group places by region, because traffic makes long transfers slow.

How should I split 7 days in Bali?

A common split is one night in Seminyak, two or three in Ubud and two on a calm coast such as Sanur or Nusa Dua, ending in the south. Fewer bases mean less packing and less road time.

How do I do Nusa Penida in a 7-day trip?

Treat it as its own day by fast boat from Sanur. Take an early departure, choose one coast and keep buffer time for the return. Sea conditions can cause delays, so keep the day flexible.

Is the Mount Batur hike included in this plan?

It is an option for day three. The hike is steep and starts before dawn, and weather can hide the sunrise. If you prefer rest, swap it for a spa, yoga or cooking class.

How much does a 7-day Bali trip cost?

The cost depends on hotel category, travel dates and inclusions such as villas, transfers and excursions. July, August and Christmas-New Year cost more. Our packages are land-only, so flights are extra. Ask for a written quote.
