Bali is warm all year, with daytime highs of about 29°C to 31°C. The real difference between months is rain, crowds and price. The drier months suit beaches, temples and trekking, while the wet months bring humid days and afternoon showers. This guide explains each season, so you can match your dates to your priorities.
May, June and September usually give the best balance. Rain is low, the weather is comfortable for outdoor touring, and crowds are lighter than in July and August. Travellers who want a first trip with few weather worries should look at these three months first. October is a late dry-season month, and it is workable, though showers become more frequent. April is the start of the dry season and is increasingly reliable for beaches and excursions.
Figures are typical values from our destination research, with rainfall in millimetres for the month.

Travellers often describe July and August as difficult. The dry-season weather attracts peak crowds and higher prices, especially in southern Bali and at famous photo spots. December and January can disappoint too, because of the monsoon tail and holiday-season demand. If you must travel in these months, plan quieter areas and shorter days out.
Wet-season days are hot and humid, and rain tends to arrive as showers, so short windows for sightseeing often remain. Sea conditions can be rougher in February, which matters for boat trips to Nusa Penida. Choose hotels with a good pool and indoor options, keep plans flexible and build in spare time. The upside is that you may find lower demand outside the Christmas and New Year period.
July and August combine strong demand with higher hotel rates and congested roads. May, June and September are usually easier to operate. Christmas and New Year are also busy and costly. If your dates are fixed to school holidays, book early and keep each day light, because roads will be slow. Our packages are land-only, so check flight prices for your dates separately. FAQs
Short answers to what travellers ask about Bali.
May, June and September are usually the best balance of dry weather, lighter crowds and moderate prices. July and August are drier still but busier and more expensive. April and October are workable shoulder months with more showers in October.
The wet season runs from November to March. Rain is heaviest from December to February, with about 270 to 340 mm a month in our research. Showers often leave usable sightseeing windows, but sea conditions can be rougher.
July has excellent dry weather, with about 50 mm of rain, but it is peak season. Expect higher prices and heavy traffic, especially in the south and at famous photo spots. Book early and plan quieter areas.
December is part of the wet season, with about 280 mm of rain, and holiday demand lifts prices around Christmas and New Year. It can work if you want a festive trip and accept showers. Keep indoor options ready.
We do not have verified price data for each month. Prices are generally higher in July, August and around Christmas and New Year, and more moderate in May, June and September. Ask a planner for a written quote for your dates.

Yes. May is a relatively dry shoulder-season month, with about 75 mm of rain and lighter crowds than July and August. It suits private-villa stays, sunset dinners and a slow pace. See the [honeymoon villa package](/packages/bali-honeymoon-with-private-pool-villa-6n/).
It is possible, but sea conditions can be rough, especially in February, and roads on the island can be hard in rain. Choose an early boat, keep buffer time and be ready to change the day if the crossing is delayed.
