FAQs

Bali Travel Guide: FAQs

Short answers to what travellers ask about Bali.

How many days do I need in Bali?

Five days is a good first trip covering southern Bali, Ubud and Uluwatu. Seven days is ideal and adds a Nusa Penida excursion. Three days is tight, and ten to fourteen days suit travellers who want quieter eastern and northern areas.

What is the best time to visit Bali?

May, June and September usually balance dry weather, lower crowds and moderate prices. July and August are the driest but busiest months. The wet season runs from November to March, with the heaviest rain from December to February.

Do Indians need a visa for Bali?

Yes. Indian ordinary-passport holders generally use Indonesia's paid visa on arrival or e-VOA for tourism, normally for 30 days. You need a passport valid for six months and an onward ticket. Confirm current rules on the official Indonesian immigration portal.

Is Bali safe for families and couples?

The main tourist areas are widely visited by both groups. Use normal precautions, especially on scooters, boats and crowded roads. Families often hire a private driver, and couples often base themselves in Seminyak or Ubud. Avoid scooters if you lack experience.

What currency is used in Bali?

Bali uses the Indonesian rupiah (IDR). The exchange rate against the rupee changes daily, so check the current rate before you travel. Cards are widely used in tourist areas, but keep some cash for small purchases and tips.

What is the time difference between India and Bali?

Bali is on UTC+8, which is 2 hours 30 minutes ahead of India. When it is noon in India, it is 2.30 pm in Bali. Check flight times against local time when you plan arrivals and hotel check-in.

Is vegetarian food easy to find in Bali?

Travellers report that vegetarian and Indian food is available in Seminyak, Sanur and Ubud, but should not be assumed everywhere. Tell your planner about vegetarian or Jain needs in advance so hotels and meals can be planned around them.

Is Bali expensive for Indian tourists?

Bali can be managed on a moderate budget. Private drivers, villas, beach clubs, imported food and peak-season hotels can raise costs quickly. Travelling in May, June or September and staying outside prime beachfront zones helps keep the total in check.
