Maldives travel guide
The cost of a Maldives trip depends on five things: the transfer to your island, the villa category, the meal plan, the season and the activities you add. Local-island guesthouses cost far less than private resorts, and May to October usually has lower rates. Our packages are land-only, so flights, visa-related costs and insurance are separate.

The Maldives is a premium-to-luxury destination. Resort transfers, accommodation, meals and activities are often priced separately or at resort rates, and costs rise quickly once you add a seaplane. There is no single tariff for Maldives packages, so quotes vary widely between operators and resorts. It is more useful to understand what drives the price than to chase a headline number. This guide explains what you pay for, what packages usually include and how to compare quotes fairly.
Transfers are the biggest hidden cost. A resort that looks cheaper in room rate can become dearer once seaplane or domestic-transfer charges are added. Travellers frequently underestimate compulsory resort-transfer costs. Ask for a total that includes the transfer in both directions, and compare totals instead of room prices. Transfers also depend on your flight time, because seaplanes fly in daylight only.
Packages commonly include accommodation, selected meals and airport transfers. Flights, taxes, excursions, drinks and water sports may be extra. Our packages are land-only. They list the nights, meals and transfers in the itinerary, and they include visa assistance. The visa itself is generally free on arrival for Indian passport holders, but read the Maldives visa guide for Indians before you travel.
All-inclusive resorts simplify budgeting for meals, drinks and selected activities, and they suit private islands well. Travellers commonly assume they include premium drinks, excursions or motorised water sports, and often they do not. Ask for the exact list in writing, including non-motorised water sports and selected excursions.
Our Maldives Budget Island Stay 3N uses a local island to keep the cost down, while the Maldives Water Villa Honeymoon 4N, Maldives Family Resort 4N and Maldives Luxury 5N use resorts.
Longer stays add nights and often add a second base, so the total rises with each transfer. Four to five nights suit a first resort stay, and seven nights suit a slower holiday or a local-island and resort split. A split adds a transfer but can lower the average nightly cost. Three nights is tight for a resort, because the transfer takes a large share of the stay.
Travellers report resort charges they did not expect, especially for transfers, drinks, excursions and spa treatments. They also say that local islands restrict alcohol, so there are fewer bar costs. Keep a small buffer for activities that you decide to add once you see the weather.
Flights, travel insurance, drinks unless listed, activities not in the itinerary, spa treatments, personal expenses such as shopping and tips, and GST are separate. Package prices on our site are shown as approximate starting prices, per person on twin sharing, and we confirm exact pricing when we quote.

It can be. Resort transfers, accommodation, meals and activities are often priced separately or at premium resort rates. Local-island guesthouses, public ferries and travel between May and October lower the cost. Compare transfer-inclusive totals before you decide.
Transfers. Seaplanes and domestic flights can cost far more than expected, and a cheaper resort can become dearer after transfer charges. Ask for a quote that includes transfers in both directions.
Packages commonly include accommodation, selected meals and airport transfers. Flights, taxes, excursions, drinks and water sports may be extra. Our packages are land-only, list every inclusion and include visa assistance.
Not always. All-inclusive plans simplify meals, drinks and selected activities, but may exclude premium drinks, excursions and motorised water sports. Ask for the exact list in writing before you book.
May to October often offers lower resort rates because of the southwest monsoon. Rain and sea conditions are less predictable then. December to April, Christmas and New Year have the highest demand and prices.
Stay on a local island such as Maafushi, travel in the monsoon months, use public ferries, choose breakfast-included guesthouses and compare transfer-inclusive totals. A resort near Malé also keeps transfers short.
No. Our packages are land-only, so flights are booked separately. Prices are approximate and shown per person on twin sharing, excluding GST. Contact us for exact pricing based on your dates, villa and transfer type.
Usually yes. Guesthouses and public ferries cost less than resort villas and seaplane transfers. Local islands restrict alcohol and swimwear, and they feel busier. Many travellers split their stay between both.
