Maldives Budget Island Stay 3N is a short, low-cost first look at the Maldives. You stay three nights on Maafushi, a well-established local island with guesthouses, cafés and easy boat links to Velana International Airport. It suits first-time visitors, couples and friends who want reefs and sandbanks without paying for a private resort.
Day two is the main excursion, with snorkelling over the reef and time on a sandbank. Day three is deliberately open, so you can rest at the island's designated bikini beach, explore on foot or add a dolphin trip. Travellers often say Maafushi is busy and built up, so expect a lively local island rather than a quiet private beach.
The package includes breakfast daily, boat transfers between the airport and the island, the snorkelling and sandbank excursion, and visa assistance. Flights, other meals, optional excursions, travel insurance and GST are separate. If you want more privacy, read our guide to places to visit in the Maldives or choose a resort stay instead.
Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.
Land at Velana International Airport and meet your transfer to Maafushi by speedboat or ferry, as arranged for your arrival time. Check in to your guesthouse and rest. Walk around the island in the evening and find a café for dinner. Keep the first day light and settle in.
After breakfast, join a boat excursion from Maafushi for snorkelling over the reef and time on a sandbank. Excursion boats depend on weather, so the operator may adjust the timing. Return to the island, spend the afternoon at the designated bikini beach and rest before dinner.
Use today as a flexible day. Relax at the beach, walk the island or add an optional excursion such as a dolphin trip, booked locally and paid separately. Keeping a free day gives you slack if rain or rough seas move the previous day's boat trip.
Enjoy breakfast and check out. Take the speedboat or ferry back towards Velana International Airport, leaving a comfortable gap before your flight. Because boats can be delayed in rough weather, an afternoon or evening flight is safer than an early morning one.
Flights are not included.

FAQs
What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.
Three nights works as a short first look if you stay in one place and choose a local island. You will fit one excursion and a beach day. For a slower holiday or a resort stay, choose four or more nights.

No. Our packages are land-only, so flights are booked separately. Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Chennai have direct services on selected schedules, so ask our planners for timings that suit the boat transfer.
Travellers often pick Maafushi because it has guesthouses, cafés and easy snorkelling and sandbank trips. Some find it crowded and its bikini beach small. If you want quiet, Dhigurah or a private resort may suit you better.
Alcohol is restricted on local islands, and swimwear is limited to a designated bikini beach. Dress modestly elsewhere on the island. Resorts follow different rules, so choose a resort stay if this matters to you.
December to April is the driest and sunniest period. May to October is the wetter monsoon, with lower prices but more weather risk for boat trips. Read our guide to the [best time to visit the Maldives](/maldives-travel-guide/best-time-to-visit/).
