About Seychelles

  • Our packages6 nights
  • Best timeApr, May, Oct, Nov
  • Visa for IndiansNo visa needed

Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Western Indian Ocean. Most travellers from India fly into Seychelles International Airport on Mahé, the largest island. Our research found no direct flights from the Indian cities we cover, so plan for one stop, with flight times of about nine to thirteen hours. English is widely used in hotels, tourism and transport, so communication is simple for Indian visitors.

The islands suit different kinds of trips. Mahé combines Victoria, the capital, with Morne Seychellois National Park and the Beau Vallon beaches. Praslin is home to Vallée de Mai and its giant endemic palms, with Anse Lazio nearby. La Digue offers cycling lanes, granite scenery and Anse Source d'Argent. A boat trip from Praslin reaches Curieuse Island, known for free-ranging Aldabra giant tortoises.

Our Seychelles Island Hop 6N package covers Mahé, Praslin and La Digue over seven days, with two nights on Mahé, three on Praslin and one on La Digue. It suits first-time visitors and couples who want beaches, hikes and boat trips without rushing. Travellers often say the destination can feel slow after five days, so island hopping suits many guests better than one long stay. If you are comparing options, read about Maldives for one-resort privacy or Mauritius for a different island mix. For background, see our Seychelles travel guide.

Our verdict

April to May and October to November are the most recommended months to visit Seychelles. Winds are lighter, seas are calmer and the water is warm, which suits swimming, snorkeling and ferry travel. June to September is cooler and drier, with good conditions for hiking and sailing, but seas can be rougher and seaweed can reach some beaches. January, February and December are warm, humid and wetter, though many beach hours remain usable. Read our month-by-month guide to when to visit Seychelles.

Day by day

Sample 7-day Seychelles itinerary

Based on our Seychelles Island Hop 6N package. Your trip expert can stretch or shorten any day.

  1. Day1

    Arrival in Mahé

Land at Seychelles International Airport on Mahé and transfer to your hotel by private vehicle. Check in and rest after the journey. Keep the first afternoon light, and take a short walk near the hotel to get your bearings. Your planner confirms check-in times in advance, so the first day runs smoothly.

    BreakfastNight in Mahé
  2. Day2

    Victoria and Morne Seychellois

Start in Victoria before midday, when the market, clock tower and museums are open. Most sights close earlier than resort guests expect, so plan them in the morning. In the afternoon, take a guided walk on a Morne Seychellois trail, since less-marked paths are slow. Carry water and keep the afternoon flexible, in case cloud hides the view.

    BreakfastNight in Mahé
  3. Day3

Ferry to Praslin and Anse Lazio

Take the catamaran from Mahé to Praslin, with your seats reserved in advance. Check in, then spend the afternoon at Anse Lazio, one of Praslin's main beaches. Keep this day light, because ferry travel and luggage take longer than expected. Use the beach time to rest before the forest visit the next morning.

    BreakfastNight in Praslin
  4. Day4

Vallée de Mai and a quiet afternoon

Start early at Vallée de Mai, so you see the giant endemic palms before the heat builds. Allow time for a guided walk and photographs. Return to the hotel in the late morning and rest through the hottest hours. Keep the afternoon free for a swim or a slow walk, rather than a second excursion.

    BreakfastNight in Praslin
  5. Day5

    Curieuse Island by boat

Join a boat excursion to Curieuse Island, where free-ranging Aldabra giant tortoises share mangrove and coastal trails with visitors. Many trips combine snorkeling with the walk. Confirm sea conditions with your planner before the day, because some boat trips are nonrefundable and the sea can change plans. Pack water, sun protection and a light layer for the boat.

    BreakfastNight in Praslin
  6. Day6

Ferry to La Digue, cycling and Anse Source d'Argent

Take the catamaran to La Digue and check in. Cycle the island's lanes in the late afternoon, and visit Anse Source d'Argent at the right tide. Check the tide times before you go, because the beach looks and feels very different at low and high water. The overnight stay gives you the quieter early morning and late afternoon.

    BreakfastNight in La Digue
  7. Day7

    Return to Mahé and departure

Enjoy an early breakfast, then take the catamaran from La Digue back to Mahé. Allow time for the hotel-to-jetty transfer and the ferry before your flight. Your private transfer takes you to Seychelles International Airport for departure, leaving margin for check-in and any ferry delay. Keep your passport, authorisation confirmation and onward ticket in your hand luggage.

How much does a Seychelles trip cost?

Starting prices of our packages, per person on twin sharing, excl. GST and flights.

Four things set the cost of a Seychelles trip. Hotel area and category matter most, since beachfront and private-island resorts cost the most. Island moves by ferry, boat excursions and private transfers add up quickly. Meals and imported food also cost more than many travellers expect. Peak weeks, around European winter, Indian festive periods and school holidays, sell out faster. Read more in Seychelles trip cost.

FAQs

Seychelles tour package FAQs

Quick answers to what travellers ask before booking a Seychelles trip. Ask your trip expert anything else.

How many days do I need in Seychelles?

Six to nine nights suits a first visit, and seven days covers Mahé, Praslin and La Digue at a relaxed pace. Three days is possible but rushed. Fourteen days is usually too long, because the islands start to feel slow. Add a boat excursion or a nature day to fill a longer stay.

What is the best time to visit Seychelles?

April to May and October to November are the most consistently recommended months, with lighter winds and calmer seas. June to September is cooler and drier, good for hiking, but seas can be rougher. December to March is warmer and wetter, with many usable beach hours between showers.

Do Indians need a visa for Seychelles?

No visa is required for Indian passport holders, but every traveller must obtain the Seychelles Electronic Travel Authorisation before departure. Check the official Seychelles Electronic Border System before you book. Our packages include visa assistance, and the visa guide explains each step.

Do your Seychelles packages include flights?

No. Our packages are land-only, so international flights are booked separately. Indian cities usually connect through one stop, with flight times from about nine to thirteen hours. Our planners can suggest arrival and departure times that suit your island transfers and ferry bookings.

Which islands should I visit on a first trip?

Mahé, Praslin and La Digue form the most practical first-trip combination. Curieuse Island can be added as a day excursion from Praslin. Sequence the islands before you confirm hotels, because ferry schedules can create an extra night on Mahé if you are not careful.

Is Seychelles expensive for Indian travellers?

Yes. Beachfront resorts, ferries, private transfers and imported food push prices higher than many Indian Ocean destinations. Guesthouses, buses and self-catering can reduce costs. Ask your planner for a written quote with every inclusion listed, so you can compare budget and comfort options fairly.

How do I travel between the islands?

Scheduled catamarans connect Mahé, Praslin and La Digue. Domestic flights and helicopters serve selected routes. Reserve ferry seats early, especially in peak season, because schedules are limited and services may not run often enough to book after you arrive. Book the crossing early, and allow time for the walk or taxi to the jetty.

Is Seychelles good for a honeymoon, or is Maldives better?

Seychelles suits couples who want beaches plus hiking, island drives and wildlife. Maldives suits couples who want one-resort privacy, villas and water activities. Seychelles has larger inhabited islands and more varied landscapes, while the Maldives is simpler for a single resort stay.

Is Seychelles suitable for families?

Yes. The destination is relaxed, safe and nature-rich, with calm-water beaches and boat excursions. Choose family rooms, calm bays and shorter ferry sectors, and confirm child policies and car-seat availability before booking. April, May, October and November suit families most.

Is Seychelles safe for Indian travellers?

Seychelles is generally considered safe for tourists, especially in resort and main beach areas. Keep valuables secure, use licensed taxis, avoid isolated beaches after dark, and follow local marine and weather guidance. Take care with strong currents and sun exposure, and buy travel insurance before you leave.
