Phu Quoc is an island in Kien Giang Province, in the Mekong Delta of southern Vietnam. For Indian travellers it is a beach and island holiday, built around a developed main beach, a cable-car ride to Hon Thom Island and a few sights in the north and centre. The island's language is Vietnamese, and its currency is the Vietnamese dong, so carry small notes for markets and small purchases.
Most trips are planned around a few areas. Long Beach is the main developed beach, with swimming, sunset views, resorts and restaurants. Sao Beach on the southeast coast has pale sand and relatively sheltered swimming. Dinh Cau Temple and its evening market sit by the central waterfront. The Hon Thom cable car links the island with Hon Thom, with views over the Gulf of Thailand, and VinWonders and Grand World are full-day attractions in the north.
Most visitors fly into Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC), usually through a connection at a Vietnamese or other regional hub. Schedules vary by departure city and date. Our packages are land-only, so choose Phu Quoc Island Escape 4N for an island-only stay, or Phu Quoc Ho Chi Minh 6N to add two nights on the mainland. We can also customise either one.
Five days suits the main beaches, one cable-car day, a northern attraction and Dinh Cau. Seven days allows a slower pace and some weather flexibility. For planning detail, read the Phu Quoc travel guide, places to visit on Phu Quoc and Phu Quoc trip cost. If you want to pair the island with the rest of the country, see our Vietnam tour packages.
