Indian ordinary-passport holders generally need a Singapore entry visa for any visit to Singapore, including a cruise trip. A cruise passenger who clears arrival immigration must meet the same entry requirements as any other visitor. This guide sets out who needs a visa, the documents, the application steps and the common mistakes. Entry rules change, so confirm the current official guidance before you pay anything.
Do Indians need a visa for a Singapore cruise?
Yes, in most cases. Indian ordinary-passport holders need a Singapore entry visa, and a cruise does not change that. Do not assume a cruise call is visa-free because you are not flying in to Singapore. Obtain the visa before you travel, unless you clearly qualify for the 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility described below. A visa does not guarantee entry, because immigration officers decide admission at the point of entry.
The 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility
The current Singapore ICA guidance describes a 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility for eligible Indian nationals who are transiting to or from a third country. It is conditional. You need a valid onward air, ferry or cruise ticket departing Singapore within 96 hours, and you must meet every condition, including holding a valid qualifying visa or long-term pass where it is required. A normal cruise itinerary may not qualify, so check the conditions before you rely on the facility.
Documents you need
- Passport: a valid individually issued travel document. Its biodata page should be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Singapore. This document is critical.
- Form 14A: the Singapore entry visa application, duly completed and signed, based on the information you declare.
- Photograph: a recent passport-sized colour photograph taken within the last three months.
- Visa approval: after successful processing, you receive an e-visa in PDF form.
- SG Arrival Card: submitted electronically within three days before arrival, with personal information, trip details and a health declaration. It is free and is not a visa.
- Onward ticket: needed only for the 96-hour transit facility, as a valid onward air, ferry or cruise ticket departing Singapore within 96 hours.
How to apply
- Apply for a Singapore entry visa within 30 days before your arrival date.
- Submit Form 14A, the photograph and the supporting documents through a Singapore local contact, the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission or an authorised visa agent.
- Pay the non-refundable visa processing fee online by Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card, or through the designated submission channel.
- Receive the e-visa as a PDF after processing, and carry it for cruise check-in and immigration clearance.
- Submit the SG Arrival Card electronically within three days before arrival.
The SG Arrival Card
The SG Arrival Card is a free electronic arrival and health declaration. It must be submitted within three days before arrival. It does not replace the entry visa, so you need both where a visa is required. Keep the confirmation with your travel documents, and complete it separately from your visa application.
Visa fees
The current ICA guidance we reviewed, updated in late October 2026, states a visa processing fee of S$30. The fee is non-refundable. Our research does not list other government charges or processing times, so confirm the latest figures on the official ICA guidance before you pay. Visa assistance is included in our packages, but the government fee is separate.
What mistakes should you avoid?
- Assuming a cruise call is visa-free because you are not flying in to Singapore.
- Treating the SG Arrival Card as a visa.
- Relying on the 96-hour transit facility without meeting every condition.
- Applying too early. The guidance advises applying within 30 days before arrival.
- Assuming that holding a visa guarantees admission.
- Travelling on a passport with less than six months of validity.
Does a Tripstor package include the visa?
Visa assistance is included in our Singapore cruise packages, including the Singapore Malaysia Cruise 3N and the Singapore Fly-Cruise Combo 6N. The government visa fee is separate. Ask your planner for the document checklist for your departure city.
