Most Indian travellers reach Singapore by a direct flight, which keeps the journey simple. Singapore Changi Airport is the main gateway, and the city is well served by taxis, the MRT and buses. This guide covers flight times, airlines, arrival planning and the transfer to the cruise terminal. Flights are not included in our packages, so book them once you have confirmed your sailing dates.
Direct flights from India
- Delhi: about 5.5 hours, direct, with Singapore Airlines, Air India and IndiGo.
- Mumbai: about 5.5 hours, direct, with Singapore Airlines, Air India and IndiGo.
- Bengaluru: about 4.5 hours, direct, with Singapore Airlines, Air India and IndiGo.
The flight time is the main difference between departure cities. Bengaluru is about an hour shorter than Delhi or Mumbai. Choose the departure city that suits your home base, and ask your planner for flight timings that work with your boarding date.
Choosing your departure city
Delhi and Mumbai each have a direct flight time of about five and a half hours. Bengaluru is about an hour shorter, at about four and a half hours. If you live in another city, ask your planner whether a different route suits your travel better. Compare the total journey, including the time to reach the airport, before you choose.
Flight planning tips
Book flights after you confirm your sailing dates, so your arrival gives you time before boarding. Choose a flight that lands in the morning when possible, because it leaves time for immigration and baggage. Check baggage allowances with the airline, and keep your cruise booking, visa and flight details together for the check-in desk. Flight times are approximate, so allow a buffer.
Arriving at Singapore Changi Airport
Changi is the main airport for Singapore. Allow time for immigration, baggage collection and the transfer. If you land in the morning, your Singapore stay can start early. If you land late in the day, book your Singapore night close to the transfer point, so you can rest before boarding. Keep your passport, visa and SG Arrival Card confirmation within reach.
Getting from the airport to the cruise terminal
Airport and cruise-terminal transfers can be arranged by taxi or private vehicle. Allow extra time for traffic, especially on boarding day. Ask your planner to confirm the transfer for your flight time and your sailing time, and keep your cruise booking and flight details together.
Getting around Singapore before you sail
Visitors commonly use the MRT, public buses, metered taxis, ride-hailing services and walking. The MRT is a practical choice for many city sights, and taxis are useful for longer distances such as Sentosa and Mandai. Walking works well along the Marina Bay and Singapore River waterfront, but the heat makes long walks tiring, so plan shaded routes.
Entry steps before you fly
Indian ordinary-passport holders need a Singapore entry visa before travel. Apply within 30 days before arrival, and make sure your passport has at least six months of validity. Submit the free SG Arrival Card within three days before arrival. The SG Arrival Card is not a visa, so you need both where a visa is required. Read the Singapore cruise visa guide for Indians before you book flights.
Planning your arrival and boarding
Arriving at least a day before boarding gives you time to recover from the flight and to handle any delay. Our research notes that a same-day port visit is less practical for an international arrival, because immigration, luggage and boarding all take time. Plan a night in Singapore before boarding, and book flights that land early enough to reach the terminal in good time.
