Singapore is a year-round cruise port, so you can sail in any month. The weather changes little through the year. It stays hot and humid, with daytime highs close to 31°C to 32°C in every month. What changes most is rainfall, and that shapes how you plan outdoor sights. This guide shows the month-by-month picture, so you can match your sailing date with the conditions you want.
Singapore weather at a glance
- Daytime highs: about 30°C to 32°C in every month.
- Night-time lows: about 24°C to 26°C in every month.
- Driest months: February, September and June, with about 105 mm to 135 mm of rain on average.
- Wettest months: December, November and January, with about 222 mm to 332 mm of rain on average.
- Humidity: high all year, so plan shaded and indoor breaks.
Which months suit a cruise?
February and March are the months our research recommends, because rainfall is generally lower. February has the lowest average rainfall, at about 105 mm, with daytime highs of about 32°C. March has about 152 mm of rain. Neither month is cool, so plan your day around heat rather than cold.
What the heat means for your day
Daytime highs stay close to 31°C to 32°C through most of the year, and night-time lows stay near 24°C to 26°C. That narrow range means the weather rarely gives you a cool break. Plan the morning for walking and outdoor visits, the afternoon for indoor attractions or rest, and the evening for the waterfront. Carry water, use sun protection and wear light clothing, because humidity makes even short walks feel heavier.
Holiday periods and crowds
Holiday periods can raise demand. Our research notes that holiday-period demand can be higher in January, and that festive-period demand may increase in December. Regional school holidays can make urban attractions busier in July. In August and March, crowds depend on cruise departures, school holidays and sailing schedules. Book early if your dates fall in a holiday period.
Month by month
- January: about 24°C to 31°C, with about 222 mm of rain. Frequent rain, and holiday-period demand can be higher.
- February: about 25°C to 32°C, with about 105 mm of rain. The lowest rainfall, and generally favourable for sightseeing.
- March: about 25°C to 32°C, with about 152 mm of rain. Moderate rain, and crowds depend on school holidays and cruise schedules.
- April: about 25°C to 32°C, with about 164 mm of rain. Moderate rain and thunderstorms, and visitor levels vary by sailing date.
- May: about 26°C to 32°C, with about 164 mm of rain. Very warm and humid, so cruising is suitable but showers are possible.
- June: about 26°C to 32°C, with about 135 mm of rain. Less rain than the wetter months, and cruise demand varies by itinerary.
- July: about 25°C to 31°C, with about 147 mm of rain. Urban attractions can be busy during regional school holidays.
- August: about 25°C to 31°C, with about 147 mm of rain. Crowds depend mainly on cruise departures and holidays.
- September: about 25°C to 32°C, with about 125 mm of rain. Moderate rain, and sightseeing stays practical between showers.
- October: about 25°C to 32°C, with about 168 mm of rain. Rainfall increases, and showers are common, but cruising is generally workable.
- November: about 25°C to 31°C, with about 252 mm of rain. High rainfall, so allow flexibility for outdoor excursions.
- December: about 24°C to 31°C, with about 332 mm of rain. The wettest month, and festive-period demand may increase.
How to plan around the rain
Showers can happen in any month, so build flexibility into each day. Keep indoor stops, such as the Gardens by the Bay conservatories, for the wetter hours. Start outdoor sights early, and save the river walk and skyline views for the evening. In wetter months, keep one spare day before boarding to absorb any disruption.
Choosing your sailing date
Cruise departures and itineraries vary by sailing date, so the month alone does not decide the trip. Compare the sailing with the weather. A February or March sailing gives you the lowest rainfall. A November or December sailing may suit travellers who accept more showers. Ask us for the sailing itinerary with your quote.
