At a glance
Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi are two very different stops in Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is the country's capital, a large city of skyscrapers, temples, markets and colonial-era civic buildings. Langkawi is an island with beaches, a forested interior and limestone karst scenery, and its boat trips pass mangroves and caves. Together they suit travellers who want city sightseeing followed by a relaxed beach stay in one trip.
Most trips fly into Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and then take a domestic flight to Langkawi International Airport. Delhi has a listed direct Air India service to Kuala Lumpur, with a flight time of about five and a half hours, and Bengaluru is about four and a half hours away. Direct schedules from Mumbai and Bengaluru should be checked for your dates. A five-day trip covers the highlights tightly, while seven days, with three days in the city and three to four on the island, is more comfortable.
Our packages are land-only. Flights and visa fees are separate, and visa assistance is included. Choose the Langkawi Island Escape 4N package, which covers four nights on the island with transfers, sightseeing and daily breakfast, or ask us to customise a city and island plan around your dates. For deeper planning, read the Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi travel guide, places to visit and trip cost.
This destination is part of Malaysia. For the wider country, see our Malaysia tour packages and Malaysia travel guide. If you are also considering Singapore, our Singapore tour packages cover that city.

February is the driest of the period, with about 110 mm of rain, while December is wetter at about 250 mm. April and May are hot and humid with frequent thunderstorms, and October and November are the wettest months. See the full best time to visit Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi guide.
Day by day
Based on our Langkawi Island Escape 4N package. Your trip expert can stretch or shorten any day.
Fly from India to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, then take the domestic flight to Langkawi International Airport. Your private transfer meets you on arrival and takes you to your hotel base in the Pantai Cenang area. Check in and rest after the journey. In the evening, take a walk along the beach road and choose a restaurant for dinner. Keep the first day light, because the island days are full.
Start with breakfast at your hotel and a relaxed morning on Pantai Cenang, Langkawi's main beach area. In the afternoon, visit the SkyCab and Sky Bridge for elevated views over the forested interior and the islands beyond. Check visibility and operating status before you travel, and keep the plan flexible if wind or rain affects the cable car. End the day with sunset on the beach.
Join a boat excursion with a licensed operator into Kilim Karst Geoforest Park. The route passes mangroves, limestone formations and caves, with habitats linked to Langkawi's geopark. Confirm the stops with the operator, and check the weather and sea conditions the evening before. Wear sun protection and water-resistant clothing. Return to the hotel for a rest and an easy evening.
Spend the morning at Tanjung Rhu Beach, a quieter northern beach with pale sand, shallow water and views toward offshore islands. Check tide and weather conditions before you plan swimming. In the afternoon, visit Langkawi Wildlife Park, a covered attraction with birds and other animals. Plan the visit for the hotter or wetter part of the day, and check the feeding-session timings locally before you go.
Enjoy breakfast and check out. Your private transfer takes you to Langkawi International Airport for the domestic flight to Kuala Lumpur. Allow enough time for check-in, and plan your onward international flight around the connection. If your flight leaves late in the day, use the morning for a last walk on Pantai Cenang.
Budget guide
Starting prices of our packages, per person on twin sharing, excl. GST and flights.
Four things move the price of a Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi trip. Hotel area and category matter most, because luxury stays at Datai Bay and Tanjung Rhu sit in a different category from budget stays in Bukit Bintang, Chinatown or Pantai Cenang. Trip length comes next, since each extra night adds a room. Flights, including the domestic hop to Langkawi, are separate. Finally, check boat and attraction inclusions.
