FAQs
Short answers to what travellers ask about Kuala Lumpur & Langkawi.
Five days covers the highlights, but the schedule is tight. Seven days is more comfortable, with three days in Kuala Lumpur and three to four on Langkawi. Three days is too short for both places, and fourteen days is longer than these two destinations need.
Both destinations are established tourist areas. Use normal precautions against pickpocketing, scams and traffic, and follow the guidance of local operators and the weather for boat trips and water activities.
Malaysia uses the Malaysian ringgit (MYR). Exchange rates against the rupee change, so check the current rate before you travel and compare how much you receive before you exchange money or pay by card. Cards are widely accepted in hotels and larger shops, but carry some cash for markets and street food.
Yes. Malay is the main language, but English is widely used in hotels, restaurants, shops, attractions and transport, so most Indian travellers can manage without translation on a first trip. Carry your hotel address and booking confirmations, which helps with taxis and directions.
Malaysia is on UTC+8, and India is on UTC+5:30. Malaysia is therefore about two and a half hours ahead of India, and it does not change for daylight saving. Check flight times against local time when planning arrivals.
For a tourist visit, no. Indian ordinary-passport holders are visa-exempt for up to 30 days, until 31 December 2026 according to the official terms. Confirm the rules on the official channels before travel. The arrival card is also required, so complete it within three days before you arrive.
December to March is the most suitable period, with highs of about 32°C to 34°C and the driest month in February. April and May are hot and humid, and October and November are the wettest months.
