Vietnam Travel Guide: FAQs
Short answers to what travellers ask about Vietnam.
Do Indians need a visa for Vietnam?
Yes. Indian ordinary-passport holders generally need a Vietnam e-visa before travel. It is applied for online through Vietnam's National Electronic Visa portal. Allow at least five to seven working days, apply earlier in peak periods, and carry the approved PDF with you.
What is the best time to visit Vietnam?
March to April and October to November are broadly favourable, but weather differs by region. March is warm and comparatively dry nationwide. May to September is hotter and wetter, with possible typhoon disruption in northern and central coastal areas.
How many days do I need for Vietnam?
Seven days covers a focused route, such as Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City. Ten to fourteen days is better if you want Ninh Binh, Hue or the Mekong Delta. Three days only covers Hanoi and one excursion.
Are there direct flights from India to Vietnam?
Yes, on selected routes. Delhi and Mumbai have direct flights to Hanoi, and Mumbai also flies to Ho Chi Minh City. Other cities usually connect through a hub, and schedules change seasonally, so check live before booking.
Is Vietnam safe for Indian tourists?
Vietnam is widely regarded as a generally safe destination. Watch for petty theft, take care with traffic, use licensed taxis or reputable ride-hailing apps and verify fares. Take extra care if you rent a motorbike, and arrange your airport transfer in advance.
What currency is used in Vietnam?
The Vietnamese dong (VND). The rate is roughly 300 to 310 VND to one rupee, subject to market rates. Travellers advise bargaining at markets, with some starting at about 50 to 60 percent of the asking price, and checking fares before taxi rides.
Is Vietnam good for families?
Yes. Vietnam offers manageable city sightseeing, food experiences, beaches and family-friendly cruises, though road traffic needs careful planning. Use private transfers, avoid too many one-night changes, and confirm child meal and cabin policies. December, January, March and April suit families.
Are Vietnam tour packages from Tripstor land-only?
Yes. Our packages cover hotels, daily breakfast, transfers, sightseeing as listed and visa assistance. International flights, the e-visa fee, insurance, other meals and personal expenses are separate. Your planner gives a written quote that lists every inclusion.
