Phuket and Krabi have a tropical climate, with temperatures between about 24°C and 34°C through the year. The real difference between seasons is rainfall and sea conditions. Most visitors plan around the dry months, but the busy season and the rainy season each bring different trade-offs, so the right month depends on whether you care more about boat days, crowds or price. This guide shows what to expect in each part of the year.
What is the weather like through the year?
Temperatures are steady. Daytime highs sit around 31°C to 34°C, and night lows are around 24°C to 25°C in most months. Humidity is high in the wetter months. The main variable is rain, which falls lightly from December to February, builds in March and April, peaks from May to October, and then eases in November. Because the sun is strong all year, plan beach time for the morning and late afternoon.
Which months suit travellers most?
November to March is the most suitable period. January and February have the least rain, at about 23 mm and 26 mm on average, and the sea conditions suit island trips. The downside is that these are high-season months, so hotel and flight prices are higher and boats fill quickly. November and March are good shoulder months, with more manageable crowds.
Is the wet season worth it?
From May to October, rain is frequent. June and July each see around 250 mm to 285 mm, and August is similar. September is the wettest month, at about 387 mm on average, and October is very wet early in the month before conditions usually improve. Crowds are lower, and some travellers prefer the calmer resorts. Boat trips may be disrupted, so choose a flexible itinerary with spare days.

Which month suits which trip?
For boat days to the Phi Phi Islands, the Four Islands and Phang Nga Bay, choose November to March. For a quieter beach stay and lower prices, choose May to October, and book flexible boat days. March and November balance warm weather with crowds that are easing or building, rather than at their peak. Our Phuket Beach Break 4N and Krabi Four Islands 3N packages can be planned for any of these months, and a planner can suggest the dates that suit your trip most.
