The cost of a Phuket and Krabi trip is shaped by a few decisions you control. The hotel area and star category matter most, followed by trip length, the month you travel and the number of paid boat excursions and park entries. This guide explains each driver, so you can compare quotes on a like-for-like basis. We do not publish a fixed figure here, because the price depends on your dates, your group and your inclusions.
Four things move the cost of a trip. First, the stay: a budget guesthouse in Patong away from Bangla Road, Karon or Ao Nang costs less than a 4- or 5-star hotel in Kata Noi, Kamala or Bang Tao. Second, the length: each extra night adds to the hotel cost, and a Krabi leg can add boat and transfer costs. Third, the season: December to February is the high season with heavier crowds. Fourth, the activities: a full-day boat trip, a sea-kayak tour or a park entry adds to the total.
Our research groups stays into four bands. A budget stay uses 2- to 3-star hotels and guesthouses in areas such as Patong away from Bangla Road, Karon and Ao Nang, usually room only or breakfast included. A standard stay uses 3- to 4-star hotels in Kata, Karon, Phuket Town and Ao Nang, with breakfast included. A premium stay uses 4- to 5-star hotels and resorts in Kata Noi, Kamala, Bang Tao, or Railay and beachfront Ao Nang, with breakfast included and selected meals optional. A luxury stay uses 5-star resorts and private-villa properties in Surin, Bang Tao, Nai Harn or private beachfront areas in Krabi, with breakfast included and private dining or half-board arranged according to the property.
Read each quote against these bands. A higher band usually includes better location, more facilities and different meal arrangements, so compare meal plans as well as the room rate.
Demand follows the season. The highest prices and crowds come in December to February, and March and November are usually lighter. The wetter months from May to October have lower crowds, which can mean lower hotel rates, but you should plan for rain and possible boat changes. Boat days are often the biggest activity cost. The Phi Phi Islands and Phang Nga Bay are full-day trips, and a sea-kayak itinerary takes more time than a short photo stop. The Four Islands route from Ao Nang is a separate day. Some national-park sites and marine excursions may need an entry fee or operator-arranged access. Ask whether these are included in your quote, and whether tips and optional extras are extra.

Ask each provider for the same things: the hotel name and category, the area, the meal plan, the transfer type, the boats and activities by name, the number of nights in each base, and the exclusions. A cheaper quote can leave out breakfast, park fees or the airport transfer, so compare the lists line by line. Ask for a written quote and keep it with your booking.
