About Iceland

  • Our packages7 nights
  • Best timeJun to Aug

Iceland is an island country in the North Atlantic, known for glaciers, black-sand beaches and geothermal lagoons. For Indian travellers it is a different kind of holiday from a city break. Roads are the main way to see the country outside Reykjavík. There are no widely established nonstop flights from India in our research, so most trips connect through a European hub before landing at Keflavík International Airport (KEF).

Our Ring Road and Northern Lights package is planned around Reykjavík, the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon and a two-night stay on the South Coast near Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. It runs seven nights and is land-only, so flights are booked separately. Visa assistance is included, and visa fees are not.

Summer, from June to August, is the best overall time for travel, with the widest access to roads and remote areas. The Northern Lights are best seen from September to March, when nights are darker, though sightings cannot be promised. Ask your planner how you will travel between stops before you book.

Our verdict

June to August brings the mildest temperatures, the longest days and the widest access to roads and remote areas, so it is the best overall choice for sightseeing. September to March suits Northern Lights trips, because nights are darker. April and May are shoulder months with improving daylight. September and October are cooler but quieter, while November and December are the coldest and darkest months. See the full best time to visit Iceland guide.

Budget guide

How much does a Iceland trip cost?

Iceland is widely regarded as an expensive destination, so the total depends on several choices. Trip length and hotel choice both move the price. Season matters too, since September to November is often cited as cheaper and less crowded than summer. Transport outside Reykjavík, such as a rental car or guided tours, changes the total as well. Flights and visa fees are not included in our packages. Read Iceland trip cost for what drives the total.

FAQs

Iceland tour package FAQs

Quick answers to what travellers ask before booking a Iceland trip. Ask your trip expert anything else.

How many days do I need for Iceland?

Our Ring Road and Northern Lights package is seven nights. It gives time for Reykjavík, the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon and a stay on the South Coast. Shorter trips need a tighter plan with fewer sights, and longer trips leave more room to travel slowly. Your planner can adjust the nights to suit you.

Is Iceland expensive for Indian travellers?

Iceland is widely regarded as an expensive destination. Hotels, dining and tours can add up, so compare quotes carefully. September to November is often cited as cheaper and less crowded than summer. Ask for a written quote that lists every inclusion before you pay.

What is the best time to visit Iceland?

June to August is the best overall time, with the mildest temperatures, the longest days and the widest road access. For the Northern Lights, September to March is generally best, when nights are darker. Some sources extend the Northern Lights window to April.

Do your Iceland packages include flights?

No. Our packages are land-only, so flights are booked separately. In our research there are no widely established nonstop flights from India, so most travellers connect through a European hub and land at Keflavík International Airport (KEF). Confirm routes and timings when you book.

Do I need a visa for Iceland?

We have not yet confirmed the entry rules for Indian passport holders, so check the official Icelandic government or immigration website before you book. Our packages include visa assistance. Visa fees are separate, and this page does not give a fee or processing time.

Can I see the Northern Lights on this trip?

The Northern Lights are visible in season, generally from September to March. Sightings depend on the weather and the sky, so they cannot be promised. Keep one or two evenings flexible in your plan so you have a chance to look.

How do I get around Iceland?

A rental car or a guided tour is the most practical way to see the country outside Reykjavík, because public transport is limited. City buses operate in Reykjavík. Your planner can explain the options for your route before you book.

Is Iceland safe for Indian travellers?

Iceland is generally considered safe. Weather and road conditions can change quickly, so follow official weather and road advisories. Take care near oceans, cliffs, glaciers and geothermal areas, where conditions can be dangerous even in good weather.

What language and currency are used in Iceland?

Icelandic is the official language, and English is widely understood and used in tourism and services. The local currency is the Icelandic króna (ISK). Compare exchange rates before you exchange money or pay by card.

How is a package different from planning my own trip?

Our packages bring the hotel nights, the agreed sightseeing and visa assistance into one land-only plan. Flights, visa fees, meals not listed and personal expenses are separate. Planning your own trip gives full control, but you arrange each booking yourself.
