Spain and Portugal are two countries, and each sets its own entry rules. Our research does not yet confirm whether Indian passport holders need a visa for either country, what it costs, how long it takes, or which documents to bring. This page therefore does not give those details. It explains what to confirm and how to do it before you pay for flights or hotels.
What do we know?
We know that Lisbon is the main gateway to Portugal and that Madrid and Barcelona are the main gateways to Spain. We know that most trips from India connect through a hub, and that our packages include visa assistance. We have not verified the entry rules, so please do not rely on this page for the visa decision.
What should you confirm?
- Whether you need a visa for each country on your route, based on your passport type.
- The passport validity period that each country requires.
- The documents, forms and photos the official source asks for.
- The fee and processing time, from the official source or your visa channel.
- Whether you apply through an official website, a consulate or an authorised visa channel.
Where should you confirm?
Check the official government website for each country you will enter. Use the consulate or visa application centre that the official site names for your location. Ask your airline about its entry requirements too, because airlines can ask for documents before boarding.
Does a Tripstor package include visa help?
Our Spain and Portugal packages are land-only. They include visa assistance, and visa fees are not included. Flights are booked separately. Ask your planner what help applies to your passport and your route, and what you need to provide.
If your trip covers both countries
If your route covers both Spain and Portugal, confirm the rules for each country. Rules can differ by country, and they can also depend on your entry point and the dates of your trip. Keep the paperwork for each country together, and check that your passport remains valid for the full trip.
Steps before you book
- Confirm the visa rules for each country on your route, using the official source.
- Check the passport validity and the documents the official source asks for.
- Ask your planner what visa assistance your package includes.
- Apply through the official channel, and keep copies of every document.
- Book flights and hotels only after the visa rules are clear.
What should you avoid?
- Booking flights or hotels before you confirm the visa rules.
- Relying on old information, because visa rules can change.
- Paying an unofficial agent without checking the official source first.
- Forgetting to keep a copy of your application and approval.
