Singapore is easy to reach from India, and the journey is short enough to suit a long weekend or a full holiday. This guide covers flight times from each major Indian city, airlines, the airport transfer and how to move around once you arrive. Flights are not part of our packages, so you book them separately, and this guide helps you choose sensible timings.
How do you reach Singapore from India?
Indian travellers fly to Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), the main international airport. Direct or one-stop options depend on the airline and season, and availability changes by route and schedule. Singapore Airlines, Air India and IndiGo are the airlines named for most routes. Always check the current schedule before you book, because frequency can vary.
How long is the flight from Indian cities?
Typical nonstop flight times from India are:
- Kolkata: about 4 hours 20 minutes.
- Chennai: about 4 hours 25 minutes to 4 hours 40 minutes.
- Bengaluru: about 4 hours 35 minutes to 4 hours 55 minutes.
- Hyderabad: about 4 hours 55 minutes to 5 hours 5 minutes.
- Mumbai: about 5 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours 35 minutes.
- Delhi: about 5 hours 45 minutes.
- Ahmedabad: about 5 hours 50 minutes, with schedules that vary.
- Pune: usually requires a connection, commonly through Mumbai, Delhi or Bengaluru.
Chennai and Bengaluru are among the fastest connections, which makes them useful for short breaks. A short flight lets you use a three-night or four-night itinerary more fully.
Which airlines fly to Singapore?
Singapore Airlines, IndiGo and Air India serve most of the cities above. Ahmedabad is served by Singapore Airlines and IndiGo when scheduled. Compare baggage allowances carefully, because low-cost fares can change the effective price. For Pune, a same-ticket connection is preferable for baggage protection and missed-connection handling. Verify operating days before you fix your dates, especially from Ahmedabad.
How do you get from Changi Airport to your hotel?
Changi Airport to central areas usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes by taxi, depending on traffic. Taxis and ride-hailing are practical for airport transfers and late-night travel. The MRT is also available and cheaper, but travellers with luggage often prefer a taxi or Grab for convenience. Our packages include private airport transfers, so a driver meets you and takes you to the hotel.
How do you get around Singapore?
Use the MRT and public buses for most sightseeing. Fares are commonly about SGD 1 to 3 per ride, and contactless bank cards and stored-value transit cards are accepted. The network is clean, punctual and tourist-friendly. Taxis and ride-hailing suit late nights, luggage and Mandai or Sentosa days with a group. Walking works well in central areas, but heat and humidity make long walks tiring, so take breaks.
Which arrival times work best?
Check your arrival time against hotel check-in and first-day attraction reservations. A morning or evening nonstop departure from Mumbai works well, and you should allow time to reach the airport from central areas. If you land late, keep the first day light. If you land early, you may wait for your room, so ask the hotel about early check-in. On the last day, leave time for traffic and airport check-in.
What should you check before you travel?
You need a Singapore visa on an ordinary Indian passport, and your passport should be valid for at least six months. You must also submit the SG Arrival Card within three days before arrival. Read the Singapore visa guide for Indians for the steps and what to confirm. Also buy travel insurance and check baggage allowances.
Can you combine Singapore with other countries?
Yes. Singapore pairs naturally with Malaysia, and a 14-day plan can add a Malaysia extension. Singapore is also a major cruise gateway. See Singapore and Malaysia packages or Malaysia for longer routes, and check visa rules for each country.
