Scandinavia & Finland (Lapland) travel guide
Trip cost in Finland and Norway depends on the season, the cities you visit, the length of your trip and how you travel. Finland is high-cost by European standards, and Norway is widely regarded as high-cost. Summer and the aurora season are usually the priciest periods. Our packages are land-only, so flights are extra.

Finland and Norway are both expensive compared with most of India, and they are broadly in line with other high-cost Western European countries. This guide explains what drives the cost of a trip and what to ask for when you compare quotes. We do not quote prices here, because each trip depends on your dates, hotel area and transport. Your planner gives a written quote for your trip.
Four things move the price most. The season matters, since summer and the aurora season are usually the priciest, while April to May and September to October are often cheaper. The city matters too, since hotel and dining prices vary between Helsinki, Oslo, Bergen and smaller towns. Trip length adds up, and so do transfers, trains, ferries and car hire. Finally, the level of hotel you choose changes the total.
Finland uses the euro (EUR), and Norway uses the Norwegian krone (NOK). Check the current rate before you travel, and compare how much you receive when you exchange money or pay by card. Plan a daily budget for dining, which is a major cost in Norway.
April to May and September to October are commonly cheaper for flights and hotels in Finland. November is often highlighted as one of the cheapest times to visit, although it is dark and cold. Summer and the aurora season cost more. If you want long daylight and low prices, consider a shoulder month. See best time to visit for the month-by-month detail.
Our packages are land-only. They cover your hotel nights, private-vehicle transfers and sightseeing as set out in your itinerary, with daily breakfast and visa assistance. Flights, visa fees, meals not listed, entry fees, insurance and personal expenses are extra. Ask your planner for a written quote that lists every inclusion. The packages are Lapland Northern Lights & Santa Village 5N, Norway Fjords 7N and Scandinavia 10N.
Compare hotel area, nights in each city, transfers, ferry and rail legs, and which activities are included. Check whether breakfast is covered, and whether any domestic flight or guided transfer in Lapland or Norway is part of the price. Every quote should show what is not included.
This guide is compiled from published tourism, weather and transport information. It was last checked on 2 November 2026. Prices, exchange rates and seasonal costs change, so confirm current figures with your planner before you pay.
