About this trip

Sri Lanka Honeymoon 6N is a six-night couples' route that pairs highland scenery with the south coast. You start in Negombo, spend a night each in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ella, then move to Mirissa for sunsets and finish in Galle. The plan favours scenery and relaxed evenings over a long list of sights.

Tea estates and cool air in Nuwara Eliya, hill viewpoints and the Nine Arch Bridge in Ella, and a beach base at Mirissa give the trip a clear arc. The last night is in Galle, where an evening on the fort suits couples. January to March and December are generally the favoured months for this south-coast route.

The package includes comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast, private airport transfers, a private vehicle for the whole route and visa assistance. Special extras such as a candlelit dinner or sunset cruise can be quoted on request. Flights, other meals, unlisted entry fees, any visa or ETA charge and insurance are extra. See our Sri Lanka trip cost guide for what moves the price.

  • Tea-country scenery in Nuwara Eliya
  • Ella's viewpoints and the Nine Arch Bridge
  • Sunset evening on the south coast at Mirissa
  • A night in Galle with an evening on the fort
  • Private vehicle for the whole route

Day-by-day itinerary

Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Negombo

Land at Bandaranaike International Airport near Colombo and meet your driver for the short transfer to Negombo. Check in and rest after the journey. Keep the evening easy, because the next days involve road travel. If your flight lands late, you will not lose a touring day. Flight delays happen, so share your flight details and we keep the transfer flexible.

    BreakfastNight in Negombo
  2. Day 2: Kandy by the lake

Drive to Kandy, the highland city around a lake. Visit the Temple of the Tooth, scheduled around ceremony times, and take an unhurried walk by the water. Kandy traffic makes short visits inefficient, so you stay overnight. Your planner can arrange a Kandyan dance evening if you ask. Meals other than breakfast are not included, so ask your driver for local restaurant suggestions.

    BreakfastNight in Kandy
  3. Day 3: Tea country at Nuwara Eliya

Travel up to Nuwara Eliya, where tea estates, cool temperatures and colonial-era landscapes make a gentle contrast to the heat of the lowlands. Visit a tea factory and enjoy the cool evening. Keep road transfers as the safe plan, because the scenic train may not run on time. Meals other than breakfast are not included, so ask your driver for local restaurant suggestions.

    BreakfastNight in Nuwara Eliya
  4. Day 4: Ella viewpoints

Continue to Ella for short hikes, tea-country viewpoints and the Nine Arch Bridge. Choose one or two viewpoints rather than a packed day, such as a sunrise walk or a sunset stop. Ella is often over-scheduled, so leave room to sit and enjoy the scenery together. Meals other than breakfast are not included, so ask your driver for local restaurant suggestions.

    BreakfastNight in Ella
  5. Day 5: Mirissa and the south coast

Travel to the south coast and settle into Mirissa, a compact base for swimming and sunsets. Spend the afternoon on the beach and end the day at the shore. Whale watching is seasonal and leaves early, so it is an optional extra. Ask your planner about a candlelit dinner or sunset cruise.

    BreakfastNight in Mirissa
  6. Day 6: Galle Fort

Drive to Galle, the fortified old town. Walk the Dutch-era ramparts, browse the boutiques and galleries, and return in the evening, when the dining and architectural light are at their best. Staying inside or beside the fort gives you that evening atmosphere, which a quick daytime stop misses. Meals other than breakfast are not included, so ask your driver for local restaurant suggestions.

    BreakfastNight in Galle
  7. Day 7: Departure from Sri Lanka

Enjoy a slow breakfast and check out. Your driver takes you to Bandaranaike International Airport for departure. Leave generous time for the road, and ask your planner to match the day to your flight, or to add a few relaxed beach nights before you leave. Share your flight time early, and the pick-up is planned around it. Meals other than breakfast are not included.

FAQs

Sri Lanka Honeymoon 6N: FAQs

What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.

Is Sri Lanka good for a honeymoon?

Yes. Compact scenic touring, tea country, south-coast beaches and boutique hotels suit many couples. Travellers often value Galle Fort, Mirissa sunsets and Ella's hill scenery. December to March is the generally favoured period for this route, and pacing matters more than adding sights.

What does the honeymoon package include?

Six nights in comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast, private airport transfers and a private vehicle for sightseeing, a Galle Fort evening walk and visa assistance. Flights, other meals, unlisted entry fees, any visa or ETA charge and insurance are not included.

Can we add a candlelit dinner or a sunset cruise?

Yes, ask your planner. These are common couple additions on the south coast, but they are not part of the base price. The planner will confirm availability and quote them separately, so you see the full cost before you pay.

Does the package include flights?

No. Our packages are land-only, so flights are booked separately. Direct flights to Colombo are available from several Indian cities, with schedules varying by season. Ask your planner for suitable arrival and departure timings. Your planner confirms the details in writing before you pay.

When is the best time for a Sri Lanka honeymoon?

January, February, March and December are generally favoured, with drier weather on the west and south coasts. Christmas and New Year are peak weeks with higher prices, so book early. Read our best time to visit guide before choosing dates.

Can we upgrade to a boutique or luxury hotel?

Yes. Sri Lanka has boutique beach resorts and tea-country stays, and your planner can quote an upgraded version of this route. Luxury stays raise the price noticeably, and sought-after hotels sell out early in peak months, so ask well ahead.
