About this trip

Mauritius Family 6N keeps the family in one hotel at Flic en Flac on the west coast for all six nights. Travellers say changing hotels often and long cross-island days are the most common mistakes, so this plan removes both. It suits families with children and groups of mixed ages.

The west base is close to the southwest highlands. You visit Chamarel and Black River Gorges National Park, then the Le Morne Brabant area. One day covers Port Louis and Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, and two days are left for the beach and lagoon at an easy pace. Each day ends back at the same hotel, so children keep a steady routine.

The price includes six nights in comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast and dinner, private airport transfers, private-vehicle sightseeing and visa assistance. Flights, lunches, boat trips and entry fees not listed in your quote are extra. Read our Mauritius travel guide for planning tips.

  • One hotel base at Flic en Flac, so the family unpacks once
  • Pamplemousses Botanical Garden with its giant water lilies
  • Port Louis Central Market and waterfront
  • Chamarel's Seven Coloured Earth and waterfall
  • Black River Gorges viewpoints and the Le Morne Brabant area

Day-by-day itinerary

Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.

  1. Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Flic en Flac

Land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) and meet your driver for the private transfer to Flic en Flac on the west coast. Check in, let the children rest and keep the evening easy with dinner at the hotel. Your single hotel base means no repacking during the week.

  2. Day 2: Beach and lagoon day

Spend a slow day at Flic en Flac, one of the island's popular swimming beaches. Check lagoon conditions and any kids' club on offer at your hotel before you plan activities. A lagoon or catamaran trip can be added to your quote. Use the day to recover from the flight.

    Night in Flic en Flac
  3. Day 3: Port Louis and Pamplemousses

Drive to Port Louis and visit Central Market early, before the traffic builds. Walk the waterfront. Then continue to Pamplemousses Botanical Garden to see the giant Victoria amazonica water lilies. Allow at least 90 minutes there. This is a full day with long drives, so bring snacks and water.

    Night in Flic en Flac
  4. Day 4: Chamarel and the Seven Coloured Earth

Head into the southwest highlands for the Seven Coloured Earth and Chamarel waterfall. Treat it as a proper outing, not a quick photo stop. Return to the hotel for a rest in the afternoon. The west base keeps the drive shorter than it would be from the north or east.

    Night in Flic en Flac
  5. Day 5: Black River Gorges National Park

Visit Black River Gorges National Park, the island's main upland protected area, for forest viewpoints and the chance to see endemic birds. Trail conditions and visibility change quickly, so wear walking shoes and carry water. Ask your planner to match the walking to your family's ages and stamina.

    Night in Flic en Flac
  6. Day 6: Le Morne Brabant and a free beach afternoon

Drive south to the Le Morne Brabant area, a UNESCO-listed mountain and peninsula, for the viewpoint and the coastline. The summit hike is strenuous and not part of this day. Return to Flic en Flac for a free afternoon of swimming and a farewell dinner.

    Night in Flic en Flac
  7. Day 7: Departure from Mauritius

Enjoy breakfast and check out. If your flight is later in the day, use the morning for a last swim. Your driver takes you to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU), with enough time for traffic and check-in.

FAQs

Mauritius Family 6N: FAQs

What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.

Is Mauritius good for a family holiday?

Yes. Our research notes reliable resort infrastructure, lagoons, family rooms and activities for mixed ages. Check lagoon conditions, kids' clubs, transfer length and family-room layout before booking. May to October is the most comfortable period for families.

Why does the family package use one hotel?

Travellers report that changing accommodation too often and long cross-island days are common mistakes. One hotel at Flic en Flac means no repacking and shorter drives to the southwest sights. It is a practical choice for children and older relatives.

What does the Mauritius Family package include?

Six nights in a comfort-category hotel on twin sharing, daily breakfast and dinner, private airport transfers, private-vehicle sightseeing as per the itinerary and visa assistance. Flights, lunches, boat trips and unlisted entry fees are extra. Ask for a family-room quote.

Can we add a catamaran or lagoon trip?

Yes. Ask your planner to add a catamaran or lagoon trip. Confirm whether lunch, transfers and water activities are included, because headline prices often exclude extras. They are not part of the base package, and sea conditions can change.

Is the Black River Gorges day suitable for children?

Trails vary and conditions change quickly, so your planner will match the walking to your children's ages. Wear walking shoes, carry water and do not plan a beachwear day there. The viewpoints need little walking compared with the longer trails.

Do Indians need a visa for Mauritius?

Indian ordinary-passport holders generally do not need a visa for a normal tourist visit, but entry is at the discretion of immigration. Carry valid passports, return tickets, confirmed accommodation and enough funds, and check current rules before you travel.
