Mauritius Island Classic 6N is a first trip that covers two coasts with one hotel change. You spend three nights at Grand Baie in the north and three at Flic en Flac in the west. It suits first-time visitors, couples and friends who want beaches and real sightseeing in one week.
The north days cover Pamplemousses Botanical Garden and Port Louis, with its Central Market and waterfront. After the move to the west coast you spend a day in the southwest highlands at Chamarel and Black River Gorges, then visit the Le Morne Brabant area. The last day is departure.
The price includes six nights in comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast and dinner, private airport transfers, private-vehicle sightseeing and visa assistance. Flights, lunches, boat excursions and entry fees not listed in your quote, and travel insurance are extra. Read our places to visit in Mauritius guide to see each stop in detail.
Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.
Land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) and meet your driver for the private transfer to Grand Baie. Check in, rest after the flight and take an easy evening walk or dinner nearby. Grand Baie is the liveliest northern base, with beaches, restaurants and shops close at hand. Keep the first night light.
Visit Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, known for its giant Victoria amazonica water lilies and mature tropical plants. Allow at least 90 minutes there. Return to the north coast for a relaxed afternoon on the beach or around Grand Baie. Boat excursions leave from the north, and your planner can quote one as an optional extra.
Drive to Port Louis, the compact capital, and visit Central Market early, before the traffic builds. Walk the waterfront and choose a museum or colonial site as time allows. Try local street food if you wish. Return to Grand Baie in the afternoon, because late-morning cross-island driving is slow.
Check out after breakfast and transfer by private vehicle to Flic en Flac on the west coast. Check in and spend the afternoon on the beach. The west coast gives easy access to the southwest sights you visit over the next two days, so you spend less time driving across the island.
Spend the day in the southwest highlands. See the Seven Coloured Earth and Chamarel waterfall, then continue to the viewpoints of Black River Gorges National Park. Wear walking shoes and carry water, because trail conditions and visibility change quickly. Treat the day as a full outing, not a quick photo stop.
Drive south to the Le Morne Brabant area, a UNESCO-listed mountain and peninsula, for the viewpoint and the coastline. The summit hike is strenuous and not part of this day. Return to Flic en Flac for a free afternoon. A catamaran or lagoon trip can be added as an extra.
Enjoy breakfast and check out. If your flight is later in the day, use the morning for a last swim or a short walk. Your driver takes you to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU), with enough time for traffic and check-in.
Flights are not included.
Two hotel bases keep driving short without changing hotels too often.
Visit Port Louis Central Market early, because traffic makes late-morning transfers slow.
The Chamarel and Black River Gorges day needs walking shoes and water.
The Le Morne summit hike is strenuous and weather-sensitive, so this package covers the viewpoint only.
Boat excursions and lagoon activities are not assumed to be included; ask for them in your quote.
Breakfast and dinner are included; lunches are extra.
Flights are not included and are booked separately.
Check the beach at your hotel on your travel dates, because swimming conditions differ by coast.
FAQs
What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.
Yes, for a first visit. Six nights covers the north, Port Louis, the southwest highlands and Le Morne without rushing. Travellers say a week covers most well-known sights. Avoid squeezing every attraction into one cross-island day; group sights by coast instead.
Six nights in comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast and dinner, private airport transfers, private-vehicle sightseeing as per the itinerary and visa assistance. Flights, lunches, boat excursions and entry fees not listed in your quote are extra.
Mauritius is spread out, and the north and the southwest are far apart. Three nights in Grand Baie and three in Flic en Flac shorten driving days. More than two bases would waste time on packing and transfers, so we keep it to two.
Yes. Ask your planner to add a catamaran, lagoon day or Île aux Cerfs trip to your quote. Confirm whether lunch, transfers and water activities are included, because headline prices for these trips often exclude extras. They are not part of the base package.
May to October is cooler and drier, and September to November is especially favourable for beaches and sightseeing. December to March is warmer and wetter, with cyclone risk. Our guide to the best time to visit Mauritius gives month-by-month detail.
Indian ordinary-passport holders generally do not need a visa for a normal tourist visit, but entry is at the discretion of immigration. Carry a valid passport, a return ticket, confirmed accommodation and enough funds. Check current rules with official sources before you travel.
