The cost of a Greece trip is shaped by a small number of choices, and knowing them helps you compare quotes fairly. Season and island choice make the biggest difference, followed by transport between islands and the hotel you choose. This guide explains what drives the price, what our packages include, and what to ask before you pay. It does not give a fixed price, because rates change by date and availability, and our planners quote for your exact trip.
Four things move the total most. Season comes first: prices rise in July and August, and they are highest on the Cycladic islands. Island choice comes next, because Santorini and Mykonos are more expensive than Naxos or Crete. The number of island changes is third, since each change adds a ferry or flight and an extra travel day. Hotel location and category come last, with caldera-view rooms and beachfront locations costing more than central or village stays.
April to May and September to October usually give the best value, with warm weather and fewer crowds. June is rising in price, and July and August are the most expensive months. Winter is the lowest-cost period in general, except around Christmas and New Year, when city hotels can be busy. If your dates are flexible, a small shift in the month can make a clear difference to the total.
Mykonos is substantially more expensive in July and August, and Santorini's caldera-view hotels also cost more in peak season. Naxos and Crete usually give more space for the money, and they suit longer stays. Travellers often say that choosing Naxos or Crete over Mykonos for a longer stay is a useful way to control costs, while still enjoying beaches and villages.
Ferries and high-speed catamarans connect the Athens-area ports with the islands, and between islands. Fares commonly range from about EUR 35 to EUR 100, depending on route and vessel. Domestic flights cost more, but they save time on longer journeys or tight schedules. Use ferries where the timetable works, and book summer crossings ahead. Allow a buffer before an international flight, because weather can disrupt sailings.
Hotel location matters as much as the star rating. In Athens, the centre and Koukaki are practical and well connected. On Santorini, Fira and Imerovigli are the usual choices for caldera views, while staying outside Oia can reduce cost. In Mykonos, Mykonos Town is convenient but busy in peak season. Travellers on a tighter budget often say that they save by staying a little away from the most famous villages.
Activities add to the cost, especially private sunset cruises, guided Acropolis entry, winery visits and private transfers. Group tours and shared experiences usually cost less than private ones. Private transfers between the airport, ports and hotels reduce stress on busy days, and they are often the most useful extra on island trips.
Our packages are land-only. Flights to Athens are booked separately, and the Schengen visa fee and travel insurance are extra. Inter-island ferry or domestic flight fares are not included unless your itinerary lists them. Meals not listed, entry fees, activities not listed and personal spending are also extra. Visa assistance is included in every Greece package. Ask your planner for a written quote that lists every inclusion and exclusion before you pay.
