Dubai travel guide
A 7-day Dubai itinerary covers the main Dubai districts, an evening desert safari, an Abu Dhabi day trip and a relaxed beach and shopping day. Seven days is ideal if you want a slower pace than the five-day plan, with time to rest in the heat and still see Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Land at Dubai International Airport and meet your driver for the transfer to your hotel. Check in and rest after the journey. In the evening, take an easy walk around Downtown Dubai to get your bearings. Keep the first night light, because the next days cover several areas.
Spend the day in Downtown Dubai, where Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountain sit in one district. Your timed Burj Khalifa entry is booked in advance. Do not treat the mall as a short stop, because it can take half a day. Keep the afternoon flexible and rest during the hottest hours.
Start in Old Dubai before the afternoon heat. Walk the lanes of Al Fahidi with their wind-tower architecture, visit the souks and cross Dubai Creek by abra. Return to the hotel to rest, then head out in the late afternoon for an evening desert safari with dunes at sunset.
Drive to Palm Jumeirah for resort beaches and skyline viewpoints, and allow extra time for traffic across the Palm. Rest in the afternoon, then visit Dubai Marina and JBR after sunset, when temperatures are better and the waterfront is at its best.
Enjoy breakfast and check out. If your flight is later in the day, use the morning for a relaxed walk or last shopping. Your driver takes you to Dubai International Airport for departure, leaving enough time for traffic and check-in.
Seven days lets you see Dubai properly and add Abu Dhabi without rushing. It also gives you a spare day, which matters in the heat: travellers often say they wish they had planned fewer stops per day and more rest. This plan builds on the five-day outline, keeps one area per day, and adds an Abu Dhabi day trip and a final leisure day.
Arrive and keep the day free. Settle into your hotel, take a short walk in your area and rest. Allow substantial airport and hotel transfer time during evening arrival peaks. A relaxed first day sets up the rest of the trip, especially if you fly overnight.
Spend the day in Downtown Dubai. Pre-book Burj Khalifa timed entry, visit Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountain, and avoid turning the mall into an all-day stop. With seven days you can take it slowly: one observation deck, a long lunch and a mid-afternoon rest.
Explore Old Dubai in the morning. Walk Al Fahidi, visit the souks, and cross Dubai Creek by abra. Add Dubai Frame, which sits closer to Bur Dubai and Zabeel. Finish before the hottest afternoon hours and use the afternoon to rest or to explore Bur Dubai and Karama, where you will find Indian restaurants and local eateries.
Spend the day on the beach and waterfront. Palm Jumeirah has resort beaches, the monorail and Atlantis, and you should allow extra time for traffic across the Palm. End the day at Dubai Marina and JBR after sunset, when it is cooler, and allow extra transfer time during weekend traffic.
Keep the day light and take an evening desert safari. Check group size, activities, camp style and inclusions, and ask whether the operator enters the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve or only visits nearby dunes. Travellers often move safaris to the evening after they experience the heat.
Abu Dhabi is roughly 90 minutes to two hours each way by road, traffic permitting. Visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Qasr Al Watan, and plan ahead for mosque entry rules and clothing requirements. Leave early, allow for inter-emirate traffic, and return to Dubai in the evening.
Use the last day for a beach session, shopping and packing. If your flight leaves in the evening, keep the morning relaxed and arrange hotel check-out and transfers in advance. Do not add new sightseeing on departure day.
Downtown Dubai is the most convenient base for a first visit. Dubai Marina or JBR suits travellers who prioritise the beach and evenings on the waterfront, and Bur Dubai, Karama or Al Barsha suit families who want Indian food and practical transport. A hotel with Metro access reduces transfer time across the week.
November to March gives the most comfortable weather for this plan. Between April and October, keep outdoor activities for the morning and evening. See best time to visit Dubai.

Dedicate Day 6 to a day trip, leaving early and returning in the evening. The drive is roughly 90 minutes to two hours each way. Check mosque entry rules and clothing requirements for Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in advance.
November to March is the most comfortable, with daytime highs of about 24°C to 31°C. December to February is peak season with higher prices. In summer, move outdoor activities to early morning or evening and use indoor attractions at midday.
Yes, with adjustments. Swap shopping for a theme park or aquarium, keep one zone per day, stay near the Metro or tram, and plan indoor attractions for the middle of the day, especially outside November to March.
