Getting to Bangkok from India is straightforward, with direct services from three major cities. Once you land, Bangkok has a good mix of rail, road and boat options, and Pattaya is reached by road. This guide covers the flight times, the airport, the transfer to Pattaya and the transport you will use on the ground. It does not cover flight prices, which change by season and by airline.
Direct flights are available from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Flight times are about 4.33 hours from Delhi, about 4.83 hours from Mumbai and about 4.5 hours from Bengaluru, depending on the schedule. Air India and IndiGo operate these routes. Schedules change, so check the timetable before you book. Our packages are land-only, so flights are booked separately, and our planners can suggest arrival and departure times that suit your itinerary.
Most visitors fly into Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), the nearest airport to central Bangkok. Plan your transfer from the airport to your hotel by taxi, app-based car or private transfer. Allow extra time for traffic when you leave the airport, and allow more time for check-in during busy periods. Keep your passport, arrival documents and the Thailand Digital Arrival Card confirmation with you on arrival.
Bangkok has the BTS Skytrain, the MRT, taxis, app-based cars, buses and boats. The Skytrain and MRT are useful for reaching many central areas quickly. The river boats link the temples and the riverside. Taxis and app-based cars are useful for longer or door-to-door journeys. Ask your driver to use the meter or agree the fare before you start, and carry your hotel address in Thai as well as English.
Visitors commonly travel from Bangkok to Pattaya by intercity bus, taxi or private transfer. The journey usually takes around two to three hours, depending on the departure point and traffic. A bus is the least expensive option, a taxi or private transfer is more direct, and a private transfer suits travellers with children or heavy luggage. Plan an early start, because traffic can build during the day. The Bangkok Pattaya Family Fun 4N package includes this road transfer in its itinerary.
Pattaya is smaller than Bangkok and is covered mainly by road. Songthaews, taxis, app-based cars and motorbike taxis are the usual options within the city. Use marked crossings when you walk along the main roads, and keep a note of your hotel address. For trips to Coral Island or Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, arrange transport in advance, and allow extra time for the journey.
Check your passport, which should be valid for at least six months with a blank page. Complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card within three days before arrival. Confirm your flight times and transfer plan, and keep the hotel address written down. The Bangkok and Pattaya visa guide for Indians explains the entry steps in more detail.
From India, the flight takes about four to five hours. Add the airport transfer to Bangkok, which depends on traffic. For a two-centre trip, add a half day for the road transfer to Pattaya. A realistic plan is to allow one full day for arrival, transfers and the first check-in, especially for travellers arriving in the afternoon or evening.
This guide is compiled from published tourism, weather and transport information and traveller reports. It was last checked on 2 November 2026. Flight schedules, transport fares and road conditions can change, so confirm them before you travel.
