About this trip

Vietnam Cambodia 9N combines two countries in one ten-day route. You spend three nights in Hanoi with a Ninh Binh excursion, one night on a Ha Long Bay cruise, two nights in Ho Chi Minh City and three nights in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It suits first-time visitors and friends who want more than one country.

The Vietnam half covers Hanoi's Old Quarter and street food, the karst waterways of Trang An, an overnight Ha Long Bay cruise and Ho Chi Minh City's colonial landmarks and markets. The Cambodia half adds Siem Reap and the Angkor temples, reached by a short flight from Ho Chi Minh City.

Hotels, daily breakfast, private transfers, sightseeing by private vehicle, the cruise and visa assistance are included. Flights, the visa or e-visa fees for each country, insurance and other meals are extra. Compare it with our North to South Vietnam 9N package if you want Vietnam only.

Day-by-day itinerary

Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi

Land at Noi Bai International Airport and meet your driver for a private transfer to your hotel, which avoids the airport taxi overcharging that travellers report. Check in and rest. In the evening, take a short walk through the Old Quarter and around Hoan Kiem Lake to get your bearings.

    BreakfastNight in Hanoi
  2. Day 2: Hanoi sightseeing

Spend the day in Hanoi. Walk the Old Quarter, see the French colonial architecture and Hoan Kiem Lake, and try Vietnam's strongest street-food culture with your guide's advice. Keep the pace easy, because the next two days include a day excursion and an overnight cruise.

    BreakfastNight in Hanoi
  3. Day 3: Ninh Binh day excursion

Take a day out to Ninh Binh, with a sampan ride through the karst waterways of Trang An, then Hoa Lu and viewpoints around Mua Cave. Visit Trang An early and choose it or Tam Coc, not both. Return to Hanoi for the night. Travellers often say Ninh Binh deserves more time than they gave it.

    BreakfastNight in Hanoi
  4. Day 4: Ha Long Bay overnight cruise

Drive from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay and board your cruise. Sail among limestone karsts, caves and floating communities in this UNESCO-listed seascape, and spend the night on board. An overnight stay is far less rushed than a day trip. Weather can change the route, so your planner confirms the vessel's plan.

    BreakfastNight in Ha Long Bay
  5. Day 5: Return to Hanoi and fly to Ho Chi Minh City

Return to shore after breakfast and transfer to Hanoi for your domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Your planner times the flight against the cruise schedule. Check in to your District 1 hotel and spend the evening on foot among the colonial landmarks and southern restaurants.

BreakfastNight in Ho Chi Minh City
  6. Day 6: Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing

Spend the day in Ho Chi Minh City. Cluster the District 1 sights on foot, including French colonial landmarks, wartime museums and a busy market. Traffic is unpredictable, so avoid cramming in a distant excursion. Ask your planner about adding a Cu Chi half-day if you extend by one night.

BreakfastNight in Ho Chi Minh City
  7. Day 7: Fly to Siem Reap, Cambodia

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia, then meet your driver for the transfer to your hotel. Check in and rest. Keep the afternoon light after the flight. Your planner confirms flight times and Cambodian entry rules with you in advance.

    BreakfastNight in Siem Reap
  8. Day 8: Siem Reap sightseeing

Spend the day sightseeing around Siem Reap by private vehicle, including the Angkor temples. Start early to avoid the heat and the crowds, and wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees for temple visits. Return to your hotel to rest in the afternoon.

    BreakfastNight in Siem Reap
  9. Day 9: Siem Reap at leisure

Today is flexible. Revisit a temple you liked, explore the town and its markets, or relax at the hotel. Your planner can suggest an optional activity that suits your group. Pack in the evening, because tomorrow is a departure day.

    BreakfastNight in Siem Reap
  10. Day 10: Departure from Siem Reap

Enjoy breakfast and check out. Your driver takes you to Siem Reap airport for your onward flight, leaving enough time for check-in. Most travellers connect through a regional hub on the way home, so ask your planner to help match your flight timings to the end of the trip.

FAQs

Vietnam Cambodia 9N: FAQs

What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.

Is Vietnam with Cambodia easy to combine?

Yes. Vietnam and Cambodia are close neighbours, and a short flight links Ho Chi Minh City with Siem Reap. Each country has its own entry rules, so your planner checks both in advance and builds the route to avoid backtracking.

What does the Vietnam Cambodia package include?

Nine nights in comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast, private transfers and sightseeing, an overnight Ha Long Bay cruise and visa assistance. Flights, both countries' visa fees, insurance, other meals and entry fees not listed are extra.

Does the package include flights?

No. International flights are booked separately, and so are flights between cities unless your quote lists them. This route needs a domestic flight in Vietnam and a regional flight to Siem Reap. Your planner shows each sector in a written quote.

Do I need a separate visa for Cambodia?

Vietnam and Cambodia have separate entry rules, so plan for each. Indian passport holders generally need a Vietnam e-visa before travel. Ask your planner to confirm Cambodian entry rules with the official source before you book.

Is nine nights enough for two countries?

Nine nights works if you accept a lighter touch in each place. Travellers who try to pack too many regions into a short trip often regret it. This route skips central Vietnam, and you can extend it with Hoi An or more time in Siem Reap.

When is the best time for this package?

March to April and October to November give the best weather balance across northern and southern Vietnam. Weather varies by region, and May to September is hotter and wetter. Check the month guides for your dates.
