About this trip

Masai Mara Great Migration 4N is a five-day safari built around the reserve's game drives, with a conservancy visit and a river or migration-area visit when seasonal conditions permit. It suits first-time safari visitors and friends who want time in the Mara without moving camps. Your four nights are at one Mara base, so your time goes on game drives.

Day one is arrival and an afternoon game drive. Day two has early-morning and afternoon drives, and day three is a full-day wildlife route with a picnic lunch, which can head towards the Mara River when conditions allow. Day four takes you to a private conservancy such as Naboisho or Olare Motorogi, then returns you to the Mara for an afternoon drive. Day five is a final morning drive and the return to Nairobi.

The package includes four nights in comfort-category accommodation on twin sharing, meals as shown in the itinerary, game drives with a driver-guide, transfers as shown in the itinerary, a conservancy visit and visa assistance for the Kenya eTA. International flights, visa fees, reserve and conservancy fees not listed, drinks, travel insurance and personal expenses are extra.

Day-by-day itinerary

Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.

  1. Day 1: Arrival and an afternoon game drive

Land in Nairobi after your flight from India and connect to the Mara by light aircraft or 4x4 vehicle, as shown in the itinerary. Check in at your camp and head out for an afternoon game drive once you arrive. Flight timings from India vary, so your planner confirms the connection before you travel. Keep the evening simple and rest for the days ahead.

  2. Day 2: Morning and afternoon game drives

Begin with an early-morning game drive in the national reserve, when animals are often active. Return for breakfast and a rest during the hottest hours, then head out again in the afternoon. Your driver-guide chooses the routes on the day, based on what is being seen. Sightings cannot be promised, so enjoy each drive as it comes.

  3. Day 3: Full-day wildlife route

Take a full-day game drive across a wider part of the reserve, with a picnic lunch packed by your camp. When seasonal conditions allow, the route can include the Mara River or a migration area. Carry water, sun protection and a warm layer, because mornings are cool. Return to camp in the late afternoon for a rest and dinner.

  4. Day 4: Conservancy visit and afternoon drive

Spend the morning on a guided visit to a private conservancy, such as Naboisho or Olare Motorogi, as shown in the itinerary. The lower-density setting suits a quieter morning. Check access fees and permitted activities before you travel. Return to camp for lunch and rest, then take an afternoon game drive in the Mara.

  5. Day 5: Final morning drive and return to Nairobi

Take a last morning game drive, then travel to your airstrip or road pick-up for the transfer back to Nairobi, as shown in the itinerary. Allow time for airstrip check-in and the drive to the gate. Your planner confirms your onward connection from Nairobi, so you have enough margin for the journey home.

FAQs

Masai Mara Great Migration 4N: FAQs

What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.

Can I see the wildebeest migration on this package?

The migration commonly reaches the Mara between about July and October, and the package includes a river or migration-area visit when seasonal conditions permit. Crossings depend on rainfall and animal movement, so sightings cannot be promised on any given day.

Is four nights enough for the Mara?

Four nights allows several game drives, a full-day wildlife route and a conservancy visit at a steady pace. Five or more nights gives more room for a wet day or a second river visit. Four nights is a good balance for a first safari, though a longer stay offers more flexibility.

What does the Great Migration package include?

Four nights in comfort-category accommodation on twin sharing, meals as shown in the itinerary, game drives with a driver-guide, transfers as shown in the itinerary, a conservancy visit and visa assistance for the Kenya eTA. Flights, visa fees, reserve and conservancy fees not listed, drinks and insurance are extra.

Are conservancy fees included?

Conservancy access fees can be separate from reserve fees, and the written quote shows which fees are included. Ask your planner to confirm the conservancy, the activities allowed and any access charges for your dates before you book.

Is this package suitable for children?

It can suit older children who handle early starts and long drives. Check each camp's minimum-age rules and the length of the full-day route. Share your children's ages with your planner and ask about family-friendly camps.

Which months suit this package?

July to October is generally the driest period and overlaps with the commonly observed migration season. November to May is wetter, with muddy tracks possible in April and May. Your planner can adjust the route for wet weather in any of these months.
