Malaysia Discovery 5N is a first trip to Malaysia that pairs two very different cities: Kuala Lumpur for skyline, temples and shopping, and George Town in Penang for heritage streets and hawker food. It suits first-time visitors, families and friends who want variety without a long list of hotel changes.
You spend two nights in Kuala Lumpur, then fly to Penang for two nights in or near the George Town heritage zone. You return to Kuala Lumpur for a final night. That buffer protects your international flight, because domestic connections and weather can cause delays on the way back.
Breakfast, private airport transfers, sightseeing by private vehicle as per the itinerary and visa assistance are included. Flights, domestic flights, other meals, entry fees not listed, any visa fee if the policy changes, and travel insurance are extra. Read our Malaysia travel guide and places to visit in Malaysia for more ideas, or ask us to swap Penang for Langkawi if you prefer a beach stay.
Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.
Land at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and meet your driver for the transfer to your hotel. Check in and rest after the journey. In the evening, take an easy walk or short ride to Bukit Bintang for dinner. Keep the first night light, because the next days cover several areas.
Spend the day around KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers. Do not give the whole day to the towers. Combine them with the wider KLCC area, and walk the Bukit Bintang food and shopping streets after dark. Kuala Lumpur has efficient urban transport, but your private vehicle keeps the day simple.
Travel to Penang by domestic flight, which is booked separately. A transfer takes you to your hotel in or near the George Town heritage zone. After check-in, take a gentle first walk through the old streets. Keep the evening free for hawker food, one of Southeast Asia's strongest food scenes.
Start early, before the heat, traffic and tour groups build up. George Town's UNESCO-listed streets pair Peranakan architecture with street art and temples. Break the day with a rest at the hotel, then return for an evening food walk. Your driver is available for the sights that sit beyond walking distance.
Fly back to Kuala Lumpur. After your hotel check-in, visit Batu Caves, then continue to Central Market and Chinatown for souvenirs and street food. Sleeping in Kuala Lumpur tonight gives you a safe buffer before the international flight, so there is no rush on the final morning.
Enjoy breakfast and check out. If your flight is later in the day, use the morning for last shopping or a relaxed walk near your hotel. Your driver takes you to Kuala Lumpur International Airport for departure, leaving enough time for traffic and check-in.
