Grand Europe 14N is a slower route through four countries: France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy. It suits travellers who want more time in each city and fewer rushed transfers. Fourteen nights across six cities gives two or three nights in each stop, with rail links between them and a free day in Paris.
Days one to three are in Paris, with the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and a free day. On day four you travel by rail to Amsterdam, where day five covers the canals, the Rijksmuseum and a pre-booked Anne Frank House visit. Days six and seven are based in Lucerne, with a mountain excursion. Days eight and nine are in Venice, days ten and eleven in Florence, and days twelve to fourteen in Rome. Day fifteen is departure.
Breakfast is included daily, with intercity rail as per the itinerary and visa assistance. Flights, the Schengen visa fee, travel insurance, city taxes, meals beyond breakfast and optional activities are extra. Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.
Arrive in Paris and transfer to your central hotel. Check in, rest after the journey and take a slow walk to get your bearings. Keep the first day light, because your Louvre and Eiffel Tower visits start the next morning.
Spend the morning at the Louvre on your timed entry, focusing on a few galleries. In the afternoon, visit the Eiffel Tower on a pre-booked slot, allowing time for security and queues. Rest before dinner.
Use the day for a Seine cruise, or a museum, market or neighbourhood you missed. Keep the pace easy, since the route has several rail days ahead. In the evening, pack your bags and check the rail details for tomorrow's journey to Amsterdam.
Travel from Paris to Amsterdam by rail as per the itinerary. Check in at your hotel and take a short walk along the canals. Keep the evening light, since the next day includes the Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank House.
Spend the morning at the Rijksmuseum, then visit Anne Frank House on your pre-booked timed slot. Walk the canals in the afternoon. Avoid driving in the city, since parking is costly and central streets are congested.
Travel from Amsterdam to Lucerne as per the itinerary, allowing time for station transfers. Check in at your lakefront hotel and walk along the water. Keep the evening relaxed, since the next day includes a mountain excursion.
Spend the day on a mountain excursion from Lucerne, as per the itinerary. Confirm cable-car operations before you set out, because weather can close viewpoints. Return to the lakefront in the afternoon for a relaxed dinner.
Travel from Lucerne to Venice as per the itinerary, allowing time for the station-to-hotel transfer. Check in near Santa Lucia and take a first walk through the canal lanes. Keep luggage light for the bridges.
Walk the pedestrian canals early, when the lanes are quieter. Take a vaporetto to a lagoon island and return to the historic centre in the afternoon. Rest in the evening, since the next day is a rail transfer.
Travel from Venice to Florence as per the itinerary. Check in at your hotel in the Santa Maria Novella area and take an afternoon walk through the historic centre. Pre-booked entries for the Uffizi and the Accademia are part of this route.
Spend the morning at the Uffizi on your pre-booked entry, then visit the Accademia. In the afternoon, explore the walkable historic centre, with its churches, bridges and markets. Finish with an easy dinner in the old town.
Travel from Florence to Rome as per the itinerary. Check in at your central Rome hotel and take an evening walk. Keep the evening light, because the Colosseum and Forum are the next morning.
Spend the morning at the Colosseum and the ancient Forum, which sit close together. Walk the Forum slowly, and allow time for security. Rest in the afternoon, and enjoy dinner in the centre.
Visit the Vatican Museums on a separate morning, so the day is not rushed. Allow time for security and the walk through the galleries. Use the afternoon to rest or to see a neighbourhood you missed.
Enjoy breakfast and check out. Your transfer takes you to the airport or onward point, leaving enough time for check-in and security. Allow extra time if your flight leaves late in the day.
Flights are not included.
Fourteen nights in six bases: three in Paris, two each in Amsterdam, Lucerne, Venice and Florence, and three in Rome.
Breakfast is included daily; other meals are extra.
Flights are not included. Some long sectors may suit a flight rather than rail, and your planner can advise.
Book Anne Frank House tickets in advance, because entry is timed and popular.
Pre-book the Uffizi and the Accademia in Florence, because spontaneous entry is unreliable in peak months.
The Vatican Museums and the Colosseum are on separate mornings, because security and walking time are substantial.
Venice needs light luggage, because bridges and vaporetto changes make heavy bags hard to carry.
The Schengen visa fee, travel insurance and city taxes are extra.
FAQs
What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.
Fourteen nights covers six cities in four countries. That is a full circuit rather than the whole continent. Each stop gets two or three nights, which allows a slower pace. Adding more cities would bring longer transfers and less time in each place.
Fourteen nights in comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast, intercity rail as per the itinerary, a mountain excursion from Lucerne, pre-booked entries as per the itinerary and visa assistance. Flights, the Schengen visa fee, insurance and extras are not included.
No. Our packages are land-only, so international flights are booked separately. Direct services operate from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, and other cities usually need one stop. Our planners can suggest timings for your arrival and departure.
It can be, if the pace suits your children. Fourteen nights gives more time in each city, but six bases means several hotel changes. Families often do better with a shorter route, so ask your planner whether the number of stops suits your group.
April to May and September to October suit a fourteen-night route, with mild weather and fewer crowds. June to August is peak season and needs early booking. December brings Christmas markets with festive pricing, and winter suits museums and cities.
Book early for summer and late December, when Paris, Venice, Rome and Switzerland need earlier booking. Ask for a written quote with every inclusion listed, and confirm your visa timing with your planner before you travel.
