About this trip

Best of Europe 10N is a classic three-country circuit through France, Switzerland and Italy. It suits first-time visitors who want Paris, the Alps, Venice and Rome in one trip. Ten nights across four bases give each city enough time, with a scenic rail journey from Paris to Lucerne and intercity transfers between the Italian cities.

Days one to three are in Paris, with the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and a Seine cruise. Days four and five are in Lucerne, with a mountain excursion and lakefront time. Days six and seven are in Venice, where the canals and lagoon islands are the focus. Days eight to ten are in Rome, with the Colosseum and Forum on one morning and the Vatican Museums on another, so the two are not rushed together. Day eleven is departure.

Breakfast is included daily, with intercity transfers as per the itinerary and visa assistance. Flights, the Schengen visa fee, travel insurance, city taxes, meals beyond breakfast and optional activities are extra. Day-by-day itinerary

Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Paris

Arrive in Paris and transfer to your hotel. Check in, rest after the journey and take a slow evening walk to get your bearings. Keep the first day light, since the Louvre and Eiffel Tower visits follow the next morning.

    BreakfastNight in Paris
  2. Day 2: The Louvre and the Eiffel Tower

Spend the morning at the Louvre with a pre-booked timed entry. Focus on a few galleries rather than trying to see everything. In the afternoon, visit the Eiffel Tower on a timed slot, and allow time for security and queues.

    BreakfastNight in Paris
  3. Day 3: Seine cruise and a free afternoon

Spend the morning exploring central Paris on foot, with a café stop. In the evening, take a Seine cruise to see the city's landmarks from the river. Keep the afternoon flexible for a second visit to a favourite area.

    BreakfastNight in Paris
  4. Day 4: Scenic rail to Lucerne

Travel from Paris to Lucerne by scenic rail, with the transfer as per the itinerary. Check in at your lakefront hotel and take a short walk along the water. Rest in the evening, since the next day includes a mountain excursion.

    BreakfastNight in Lucerne
  5. Day 5: Mountain excursion from Lucerne

Spend the day on a mountain excursion from Lucerne, using cable cars and rail as per the itinerary. Confirm cable-car operations before you set out, because weather can close viewpoints. Return to the lakefront in the afternoon for a relaxed dinner.

    BreakfastNight in Lucerne
  6. Day 6: Lucerne to Venice

Travel from Lucerne to Venice as per the itinerary, allowing time for the station-to-hotel transfer. Check in and take a first walk through the canal lanes. Keep luggage light, since bridges and vaporetto changes make heavy bags difficult.

    BreakfastNight in Venice
  7. Day 7: Venice canals and lagoon islands

Walk the pedestrian canals early, when the lanes are quieter. Take a vaporetto to one of the lagoon islands, and return to the historic centre in the afternoon. Keep the evening relaxed and rest early for the journey to Rome.

    BreakfastNight in Venice
  8. Day 8: Venice to Rome

Travel from Venice to Rome as per the itinerary. Check in at your central Rome hotel and take an evening walk through the historic centre. Keep the evening light, because the Colosseum and Forum are the next morning.

    BreakfastNight in Rome
  9. Day 9: Colosseum and the ancient Forum

Spend the morning at the Colosseum and the ancient Forum, which sit close together. Walk the Forum slowly, and allow time for security. Rest in the afternoon, and enjoy dinner in the centre.

    BreakfastNight in Rome
  10. Day 10: Vatican Museums

Visit the Vatican Museums on a separate morning from the Colosseum, so the day is not rushed. Allow time for security and the walk through the galleries. Use the afternoon to rest or to see a neighbourhood you missed.

    BreakfastNight in Rome
  11. Day 11: Departure from Rome

Enjoy breakfast and check out. Your transfer takes you to the airport or onward point, leaving enough time for check-in and security. Allow extra time if your flight leaves late in the day.

FAQs

Best of Europe 10N: FAQs

What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.

Is ten nights enough for Europe's classic route?

Ten nights covers Paris, Lucerne, Venice and Rome, the main stops on a three-country circuit. Each city gets two or three nights, which allows the main sights at an easy pace. A shorter trip would need to drop a city.

What does the Best of Europe package include?

Ten nights in comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast, intercity transfers as per the itinerary, a scenic rail journey, a mountain excursion from Lucerne, timed landmark entries and visa assistance. Flights, the Schengen visa fee, insurance and extras are not included.

Does this package include flights?

No. Our packages are land-only, so international flights are booked separately. Direct services operate from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, subject to season, and other cities usually need one stop. Our planners can suggest timings that fit the route.

Can I add Florence to this package?

Yes, if you rebalance the nights. Florence sits between Venice and Rome on a rail-based route. Ask your planner, who will update the price and inclusions before you confirm. Our Grand Europe 14N package includes Florence in a longer route.

When is the right time for this package?

April to May and September to October suit this circuit, with mild weather and fewer crowds. June to August is peak season and needs early booking. December brings Christmas markets with festive pricing, while January and February are quiet and cold.

How early should I book?

Book early for June to August and late December, when Switzerland, Venice, Paris and Rome fill up. Ask for a written quote with every inclusion listed, and confirm your visa timing with your planner before you travel.
