Day-by-day itinerary

Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Kochi, drive to Munnar

Arrive in Kochi and meet your driver. Travel by private vehicle to Munnar. The road climbs into the Western Ghats and winds through hill country, so allow most of the day for the drive. Check in at your comfort hotel and rest. Carry a light jacket, because Munnar is much cooler than the lowlands.

    MunnarBreakfastNight in Munnar
  2. Day 2: Tea country and viewpoints

Spend the day around Munnar. Walk among the tea plantations and stop at highland viewpoints in the Western Ghats. Wear closed shoes with good grip, as paths in tea estates can be wet. Your private vehicle stays with you, so you can set a relaxed pace. Return to the same hotel for a second night.

    MunnarBreakfastNight in Munnar
  3. Day 3: Hills to Periyar country

After breakfast, check out and drive to Thekkady. Settle into your hotel, then explore the Periyar landscape in the afternoon. You can choose a guided nature walk, bamboo rafting or a spice-estate visit. Activity tickets and entry fees are not included. Park activities have limited capacity, so decide early. Overnight in Thekkady.

    ThekkadyBreakfastNight in Thekkady
  4. Day 4: Backwaters on a kettuvallam

Check out after breakfast and drive to Alleppey. Board your private kettuvallam and cruise through paddy-field backwaters and village canals. Lunch and dinner are served on board. The boat moors for the night, so expect a slow, quiet evening on the water rather than a long cruise. This is the only road transfer today.

    AlappuzhaBreakfast, Lunch, DinnerNight in Alleppey
  5. Day 5: Fort Kochi heritage

Have breakfast on the houseboat and disembark. Drive to Kochi and check in at your hotel. In the afternoon, explore Fort Kochi. Walk its colonial streets, see the Chinese fishing nets, visit the art spaces and stroll along the historic waterfront. Your driver stays with you for the sightseeing. Overnight in Kochi.

    KochiBreakfastNight in Kochi
  6. Day 6: Departure from Kochi

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and check out. Your driver takes you to the airport or railway station for your onward journey. Allow extra road time between the city and the airport, especially at peak traffic hours. Your Kerala holiday ends here.

FAQs

God's Own Country Classic 5N: FAQs

What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.

Who is this Kerala package best suited for?

It suits first-time visitors, couples, families and friends who want hills, wildlife country, backwaters and a heritage city in one trip. Seniors can enjoy it too, but should note the winding hill roads and check boarding access for the houseboat.

How many days does this package cover, and what is the pace?

It runs for 6 days and 5 nights: Munnar for 2 nights, then Thekkady, Alleppey and Kochi for 1 night each. It is a compact route. You change hotels on most days, and each of those days has one main road transfer.

What is included in this package?

It includes twin-sharing stays in comfort-category hotels, one night on a private houseboat, daily breakfast, lunch and dinner on the houseboat day, and private vehicle transfers and sightseeing as per the itinerary. Flights, train tickets, other meals and entry fees are not included.

Can this itinerary be customised?

Yes, you can talk to our team about changes, such as swapping the houseboat for a hotel stay or adding nights. Keep in mind that Kerala's stops are far apart, and extra stops mean longer road journeys. A relaxed pace usually works better.

What is the best time to take this trip?

October to March is generally the best period, with drier and more comfortable weather for hills, backwaters and sightseeing. November to February is the busiest. During the monsoon, heavy rain can affect road travel, outdoor activities and boat services.

Is the overnight houseboat stay suitable for seniors and children?

Many families enjoy it, but check the boarding access and comfort first. The boat moors for the night, so it offers a quiet evening rather than overnight cruising. Tell us about any mobility needs when you book, and we can suggest changes.
