The cost of a Da Nang and Hanoi trip is made up of several parts, and only some of them are set by the package. This guide explains what changes the price, how the hotel areas and categories compare, and which costs sit outside our land packages. We do not publish a fixed rupee figure in this guide. Each package page shows a price on request until a planner confirms the quote for your dates.
What drives the cost?
Four things move the price most. The first is hotel area and category, from budget guesthouses to luxury resorts. The second is trip length, since a five-night stay costs more than a four-night stay, and a Ha Long Bay cruise adds to the total. The third is season, because February to April draws more visitors, and April is busiest. The fourth is inclusions, such as entry tickets, cable-car access and meals, which vary from one itinerary to another.
Stay areas and hotel categories
Our research points to clear stay areas in each city. Budget stays are in Hanoi's Old Quarter, Da Nang's city centre and the My Khe Beach area, usually guesthouses and two- to three-star hotels with room-only or breakfast-included options. Standard stays are in the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem area, My Khe Beach, and the outskirts of Hoi An Ancient Town, with three- to four-star hotels and breakfast included.
Premium stays are in Hoan Kiem and the French Quarter, along My Khe Beach and the Han River, and by the Hoi An riverside. These are four- to five-star hotels with breakfast included, and selected meals depend on the property. Luxury stays are in the French Quarter, on the Da Nang beachfront and on the Hoi An riverside or beach, in luxury hotels and resorts. Half-board availability depends on each property.
Flights and the domestic link
International flights are the largest cost outside our packages. Direct services run from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru to Hanoi, and fares vary by airline, date and season. If you visit both cities, add the domestic flight between Hanoi and Da Nang, which is the fastest practical option. Trains and long-distance buses take substantially longer, so most combined trips budget for the flight.
Visa and fees
Indian ordinary-passport holders need a preapproved Vietnamese e-visa. The official portal lists a single-entry fee of USD 25 and a multiple-entry fee of USD 50. The fee is not refunded if an application is refused, so check your details before you pay. Our packages include visa assistance, but the official fee is extra. See the Da Nang and Hanoi visa guide for Indians.
Ha Long Bay, cruises and entry tickets
A Ha Long Bay cruise is a major part of a northern Vietnam trip, and the cruise itself is a planning item in our itinerary. Entry tickets at heritage sites, cable-car access at Ba Na Hills and any activity not listed in your itinerary are extra. Cruise schedules can change with the weather, so ask your planner which cruise timings are confirmed before you pay.
Packages and what is included
Our packages cover hotel nights in comfort-category hotels on twin sharing, daily breakfast, private airport transfers and sightseeing by private vehicle as per the itinerary, plus visa assistance. Flights, meals not listed, entry fees, activities not listed, the e-visa fee, travel insurance, personal expenses and GST are not included. The Da Nang Hoi An Ba Na Hills 4N package and the Hanoi and Ha Long Bay 5N package show the day-by-day inclusions.
Season and timing
February to April is the most practical season for the weather, and crowds are moderate to high in April. Book early for that period. October and November have lower crowds, but heavy rain in Da Nang can affect outdoor plans. Summer months are hot and wet, so plan for flexible days if you travel then.
A checklist for comparing quotes
- Check the hotel area and category for each night, not just the star rating.
- Confirm whether breakfast is included, and which other meals are listed.
- Ask which entry tickets, cable-car fees and cruise costs are included.
- Confirm the domestic flight between Hanoi and Da Nang is booked separately.
- Include the e-visa fee and travel insurance in your total budget.
- Ask for the quote in writing, with every inclusion and exclusion listed.
