Which airports should you use?
Noi Bai International Airport serves Hanoi, and Da Nang International Airport (DAD) serves Da Nang. A common routing is arrival at Noi Bai, a domestic flight to Da Nang, and departure from Da Nang or Hanoi depending on your ticket. Choose the airport you will enter through carefully, because the Vietnam e-visa asks you to select the entry port in your application.
How do you travel between Hanoi and Da Nang?
A domestic flight between Noi Bai International Airport and Da Nang International Airport is the fastest practical option. Trains and long-distance buses take substantially longer, so most travellers choose the flight. Book the domestic flight separately, because our packages are land-only. Allow time at both airports, and keep your check-in plan simple, especially if you carry bags.
What airlines fly these routes?
Vietnam Airlines lists direct services from Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai to Hanoi. IndiGo, Akasa Air and VietJet Air also list services from Mumbai. Routes, frequencies and airlines change by season, so ask your planner which services are operating for your dates.
How do you get around once you arrive?
Both cities have taxis and ride-hailing apps, which are the simplest option for short trips. Private cars are used for day trips, such as the transfer to Ha Long Bay or the trip to Ba Na Hills. Central areas are walkable, including Hanoi's Old Quarter and Da Nang's river area. Hanoi also has buses and an urban metro, which can be useful for longer trips across the city.
How do you reach the day trips?
From Hanoi, Ha Long Bay is reached by a private road transfer, and the cruise is arranged with the operator. From Da Nang, Ba Na Hills, Marble Mountains, Son Tra Peninsula and Hoi An are reached by private car for day trips, or by taxi where that suits your plan. Allow extra time for traffic and for the transfer back to your hotel.
What should you check before you fly?
- Entry requirements: Indian ordinary-passport holders need a preapproved Vietnamese visa, and the e-visa must be approved before you travel.
- Entry port: select the Vietnamese airport or checkpoint where you will enter, as you will need to enter through it.
- Flight timings: an early flight may need an early transfer, so check timings against your itinerary.
- Domestic flight: book the Hanoi to Da Nang flight separately, as it is not part of our land packages.
- Documents: carry your passport and a printed copy of the approved e-visa.
How was this guide compiled?
This guide is compiled from published tourism, weather and transport information and traveller reports. It was last checked on 2 November 2026. Flight times are indicative, and schedules change, so confirm them with the airline before you book.
