Hong Kong Macau 5N combines three nights in Hong Kong with two nights in Macau. The first part of the trip covers the skyline, the harbour, Victoria Peak and Lantau Island. The second part covers Macau's Portuguese-Chinese heritage and its casino resorts. It suits couples, friends and families who want two contrasting cities without rushing. For planning, see our Hong Kong and Macau travel guide.
Day two is Victoria Peak, Central and Sheung Wan. Day three is Lantau Island and Ngong Ping. On day four you cross to Macau and explore the Historic Centre, then day five covers Taipa Village and the Cotai resorts. You return to Hong Kong and depart on day six. Read our Hong Kong and Macau trip cost guide to see what drives the price.
The price covers five nights on twin sharing in comfort hotels, daily breakfast, private transfers and sightseeing as listed, and visa assistance. Flights, other meals, entry fees not listed, Macau show tickets and personal expenses are extra. Hong Kong and Macau have separate immigration controls, so carry the same passport for both.
Your trip expert can stretch, shorten or swap any day.
Land at Hong Kong International Airport and transfer to your Tsim Sha Tsui hotel by private vehicle. Check in and rest. In the evening, walk the harbour promenade and look across to the skyline, which is best seen after dark. Keep the first night light, because the trip covers two cities.
Start with breakfast, then travel up to Victoria Peak for the view over the harbour and Kowloon. Allow time for the Peak Tram queue, or take a bus or taxi up. In the afternoon, walk through Central and Sheung Wan, with temples, wet markets and tram streets beside the skyscrapers. Keep the route loose, because heat and steep streets slow the pace.
Travel to Lantau Island for the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, then visit the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery on the plateau. Check cable-car operations and the weather before you set out, because wind or maintenance can interrupt the service. Return to Hong Kong in the afternoon, and keep the evening free to rest.
Check out and travel to Macau by high-speed ferry from a Hong Kong terminal, or by private transfer across the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge. Allow time for immigration at both ends. In the afternoon, explore the Macau Historic Centre, with Senado Square and the Ruins of St. Paul's. Start early, because the historic centre is walkable but hilly and crowded.
Take a hotel shuttle or taxi to Taipa Village for local food and colonial lanes, ideally in the late afternoon. In the evening, visit the Cotai Strip, where integrated resorts hold dining, shopping and large-scale shows. Confirm show times before you go, and allow substantial transfer time between resorts. Keep the evening flexible, since show and dinner times vary.
Have breakfast and check out. Return to Hong Kong by ferry or by private transfer. Your transfer then continues to Hong Kong International Airport for your flight, with extra time for check-in and immigration. Keep your passport and travel documents easy to reach for both border crossings. Allow extra time for the ferry or bridge crossing and for check-in at the airport.
Flights are not included.
Hong Kong and Macau have separate immigration controls, so allow time at each border.
Do not combine Macau with a Disneyland day; the transfers make that plan unreliable.
Ferry and bridge services run to set timetables, so check times close to your travel date.
Macau weekend resort rates can rise sharply, so book early for weekend nights.
Check Ngong Ping 360 operations and the weather before your Lantau day.
Pre-arrival Registration for Hong Kong is free and must be completed online before travel.
Breakfast is included daily; other meals are extra.
Flights are not included and are booked separately.
Macau show tickets, entry fees and activities not listed are extra.
FAQs
What travellers ask about this trip. Your trip expert can answer anything else.
Yes. Hong Kong brings the skyline, harbour transport and Cantonese food, while Macau adds Portuguese-Chinese heritage and resort entertainment. The two cities are close enough for one trip, but they have separate immigration, so allow time at each border. Allow at least four nights across both cities for a relaxed pace.
Macau generally permits eligible Indian passport holders up to 30 days on arrival, subject to passport validity, onward travel and immigration discretion. Entry is decided at immigration, so check the current rules before you travel. Your planner will confirm the current requirements before the quote is final.
Use a high-speed ferry from a Hong Kong terminal, or cross the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge by approved bus or private transfer. Ferry and bridge options differ in timing and cost, so your planner will confirm the best transfer for your dates.
A one-day trip is possible but tight. This package gives two nights in Macau, so you can see the Historic Centre, Taipa Village and the Cotai resorts without rushing. Overnight stays also make the transfers easier. Two nights also leave time to enjoy the Cotai resorts in the evening.
The package covers the Macau Historic Centre, with Senado Square and the Ruins of St. Paul's, plus Taipa Village and the Cotai Strip. Coloane can be added only if transport time allows, because covering it in a hurry weakens the visit.
October to December and March to April are usually best. October and November give the strongest balance of comfortable temperatures and lower rainfall. June to September is hot and wet, with typhoon risk that can disrupt ferries and attractions. Summer is best avoided for outdoor sightseeing.
